The Terms and Conditions for using the National Rail website (the “Web Site”). For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions the term Web Site also includes the web services, XML and any other data source supplying the Web Site.

National Rail is the journey planning website of TRAIN INFORMATION SERVICES LIMITED ("TISL"), a company registered in England (No. 07258491), whose registered office is at:

This Web Site is offered as a service to you, the user, by TISL. Your use of this Web Site constitutes your agreement to all terms, conditions and notices contained on the Web Site. If you do not agree with these terms and conditions then you are not authorised to use this Web Site.

You may not at any time modify, store, copy (including for example screen scraping), extract, reutilise, distribute, transmit, display, perform, reproduce, publish, license, create derivative works from, transfer, or sell, distribute or create any information, products or services obtained from, linked to or using this Web Site and any data therein or that may provide users with the ability to do the same, unless approved by TISL through a signed licence agreement.

We do allow free public display of the Live Trains section of the Web Site, without a license, on and subject to the following conditions.

Use is subject to these Web Site terms and conditions:

  • Use is for non-commercial purposes

  • Permission to use Live Trains for public display is subject to change and termination by TISL without notice

  • The display must be the full page (e.g. https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/live-trains/departures/hhe/) with no changes, additions or amendments

  • The display needs to be set to automatically refresh

  • TISL makes no representations or warranties as to, and shall have no liability to a user in respect of, the fitness for purpose, suitability or accuracy of the display or data contained in or provided by the Live Trains information

Unless otherwise stated TISL is the owner of all intellectual property rights in the Web Site. All contents of this Web Site and material published in it are either owned by TISL or licensed to it and are protected by copyright. No part of the Web Site may be reproduced in any form whether electronically or otherwise without the prior consent of TISL other than temporarily in the course of using the Web Site for personal use or to keep a record of a single transaction entered into using the Web Site for personal use.

The National Rail Enquiries (NRE) logo is a trademark and is the property of TISL. The double-arrow headed roundel that forms part of the logo is the property of the Department for Transport and is licensed to TISL. Other product and company names featuring in the Web Site may be the trademarks of their respective owners.

You shall not Frame or Rebadge the Web Site, or otherwise integrate it into any other system, except with the express advance permission of TISL. You may provide a link to the Web Site from your own website.

Postcode information is provided to TISL, and utilised within the journey planner under licence:

This Web Site is for the provision of information only and where selected by you, for the provision of the NRE Services. TISL shall use reasonable care and skill in carrying out the services contained in this Web Site. Additional terms and conditions apply in respect of the NRE Services.

TISL uses reasonable endeavours to check the accuracy of information published or made available on this Web Site. You should note however that TISL does not warrant that such information will be error free and the user acknowledges that the information, products, and services published or made available on this Web Site may include inaccuracies or typographical errors. Specifically, whilst care is taken to ensure that ticket availability is kept up to date, prices displayed may no longer be available. Changes are periodically made to the information herein. TISL and / or its respective suppliers may make improvements and / or changes in this Web Site at any time.

TISL and / or its respective suppliers makes no representations about the suitability of the information, products, and services contained on this Web Site for any purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, TISL Limited and / or its respective suppliers hereby disclaim all warranties, terms and conditions with regard to this information, products, and services, including all implied warranties, terms and conditions, by statute, collaterally or otherwise, of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. In no event shall TISL and / or its suppliers be liable for any loss of profit, loss of opportunity, loss of business, loss of revenue, wasted time, wasted costs, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising out of or in any way connected with the use of this Web Site or with the delay or inability to use this Web Site, or for any information, products, and services obtained through this Web Site, or otherwise arising out of the use of this Web Site, whether based on contract, tort, strict liability or otherwise, even if TISL or any of its suppliers has been advised of the possibility of damages. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

The National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner may utilise information provided by third-parties about their services in trying to find suitable routes for your journey. Where a journey involves one or more connections between National Rail stations using third-party services, including, but not limited to, those provided by London Underground, Manchester Metrolink or similar, customers should check with the relevant third-party operator whether such services are available at the required times, particularly early morning or late at night. TISL will not be liable for any inconvenience or loss due to non-availability, for whatever reason, of third-party services.

As a condition of your use of this Web Site, you warrant to TISL that you will not use this Web Site for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by these terms, conditions, and notices. TISL may suspend, block or terminate your access to the Web Site, in its absolute discretion.
