CrossCountry Trains [hide]

Catering is available on most CrossCountry trains.
In Standard accommodation CrossCountry offer a range of quality snacks, sandwiches and hot drinks plus soft and alcoholic beverages between 0600 and 2000. On the Nottingham - Cardiff and Birmingham - Stansted Airport routes catering is available until mid afternoon on weekdays only.
When travelling First Class (except on Nottingham - Cardiff and Birmingham - Stansted Airport routes) you’ll be offered a range of complimentary food and drinks throughout the day, including breakfast, to make your journey as comfortable as possible. This is served at seat or may be collected from the on-board shop when in operation. More information can be found on the Travelling in First Class page.
Catering facilities including complimentary First Class refreshments will close at Plymouth on trains heading for Penzance, and will close at Edinburgh on trains heading for Glasgow or Aberdeen. Food and drink will still be available after Plymouth on trains heading for Newquay.

East Midlands Trains [hide]
On East Midlands Mainline services (to and from London St Pancras), a buffet provides a range of delicious healthy food options, plus snacks and Fairtrade drinks. A trolley service is available on selected East Midlands Connect services.
East Midlands Trains First Class customers travelling Monday to Friday, receive complimentary small snacks, fruit juice, mineral water and a glass of wine on afternoon services. This is in addition to complimentary tea and coffee and a daily newspaper, all of which will be served to you at your seat. A Breakfast Restaurant is available on selected early morning trains, servings traditional breakfasts and lighter meals. A Breakfast menu of lighter breakfast items is available to other First Class customers.
Complimentary tea and coffee is available to all First Class ticket holders at the weekend. Simply present your ticket at the buffet bar to collect your drink. (Newspapers, snacks, juice, water and wine are only available on weekdays)

First Great Western [hide]

Most First Great Western high speed services offer a buffet or trolley service with a selection of hot and cold snacks, sandwiches, beverages, crisps and confectionery.
First Class customers also enjoy additional complimentary services:
- An at seat trolley service offering light refreshments available on Monday to Friday services between 07.00 and 19.00, including tea, freshly made coffee, soft drinks, mineral water, morning goods, biscuits, peanuts and fresh fruit.
- A complimentary daily newspaper (available up to 09.00) and evening paper (after 15.00) on services out of London.
- At the weekend and on weekdays after 19.00 complimentary refreshments are available from the buffet on production of valid travel tickets.
- Friday night wine offers first class customers a complimentary glass of wine between 15.00 and 19.00.
Some weekday high speed services offer Pullman Restaurant or Travelling Chef/Brasserie providing food freshly prepared on board by one of First Great Western's own chefs. These services are available on over 200 services per week.

First ScotRail [hide]
A trolley service is available on many longer distance services. A Lounge Car is provided on all Caledonian Sleeper services offering a wide range of drinks, snacks and hot meals.

First Transpennine Express [hide]
Catering trolley services are available between 0700 and 1900 Monday to Friday on First TransPennine Express trains between Manchester Piccadilly and York, Manchester Piccadilly and Doncaster and Manchester Piccadilly and Preston.
In addition to the above, all services between Manchester Airport, Manchester Piccadilly, Carlisle, Glasgow Central and Edinburgh convey a trolley service for the whole journey. This facility is also provided at weekends.

Grand Central [hide]

All Grand Central services will operate with a full restaurant and buffet service, offering passengers the chance to dine in a unique environment in the restaurant car. The restaurant service will be launched soon and will be open to passengers from both classes, with first class passengers also having the option to dine at their own seat. The buffet will be open for the duration of the journey, also bringing hot food directly to passengers in Standard Class.

Hull Trains [hide]

Hull Trains provides a buffet on all services, and a comprehensive catering package for First Class passengers. Catering is subject to availability and may be limited when services are disrupted by engineering works or Bank Holidays.

London Midland [hide]

A trolley service of hot drinks and light refreshments is available for all or part of the journey on the selected services on the Birmingham–Liverpool route.

National Express East Anglia [hide]

Hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and light snacks are generally available on main line services between Norwich and London Liverpool Street and on Stansted Express services.
The Restaurant is available on some mainline services between Norwich and London.

Catering is available on all National Express East Coast trains. There is a Buffet available on every service.

Virgin Trains [hide]

In First Class on a Pendolino from Monday to Friday customers can enjoy a selection of hot or cold snacks throughout the day, including a cooked breakfast on many morning peak services. In addition, Fairtrade tea and coffee, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks (alcohol not served with breakfast services) and a newspaper are served at seat throughout the day.
In First Class on Voyager from Monday to Friday customers can enjoy complimentary light refreshments on all trains including Fairtrade tea and coffee, soft drinks and a newspaper with an at-seat service available.
In Standard Class, there are a wide range of snacks and sandwiches, Fairtrade tea and fresh ground coffee, soft and alcoholic drinks and a selection of non-food items available at the onboard shop. The shop is generally open throughout. Pendolino trains offer an at-seat trolley service to standard class customers on Mondays to Fridays.

Wrexham and Shropshire [hide]
Wrexham and Shropshire offer complementary food and drink – served at your seat – for passengers travelling in First Class, and a selection of food from the buffet for passengers travelling in Standard Class.
Both are available for the entire journey and, subject to availability, you can have food from any of three menus (breakfast, lunch and dinner) at any time of the day.
All of Wrexham and Shropshire food:
-
is sourced locally – all suppliers are based near Wrexham;
- has low food miles;
- is GM-free;
- uses organic produce wherever they can.
- There are gluten free and vegetarian options, as well as healthy options and low fat options.
The china containers for the hot meals are reused – not recycled – so minimising energy usage, and everything else is recycled, wherever possible.
The on board team will also walk the length of the standard class coaches from time to time to make sure that the needs of any passengers who find it difficult to make their way to the buffet bar.
For first class passengers, food and drink (except for alcoholic drinks) is included in the ticket price. There’s always a Welsh signature dish, and the menus are rotated every six weeks. The senior steward will serve your food to you at your seat. Bone china, steel cutlery, glasses (no plastic cups!) and linen napkins all complete the effect.
Standard class food and drink from the buffet and bar. The buffet bar is situated in coach A and is open throughout the entire journey. It serves hot and cold food, tea and coffee, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks. The hot food includes sandwiches from the Panini grill, and soup of the day. They will be adding their menus very soon.
