Passenger Transport Executives are responsible for the strategic development of local public transport networks, run concessionary travel schemes and invest in local transport networks.

Though most public transport is operated by private companies, PTE's in some cases are the operators of public transport, for example the Tyne & Wear Metro and the Glasgow Subway.

Passenger Transport Executives may offer tickets that you can use on the train as well as other transport modes within that area.
