Description

Liverpool Lime Street station is undergoing a major upgrade this autumn. Work will be completed in two phases to allow engineers to remodel and increase the number of station platforms, install overhead line equipment and upgrade track. This work will enable an extra three services per hour in and out of Lime Street station, including new direct services to Scotland. Platforms will be longer and better managed to allow bigger trains, with more room for passengers into the station. 

Trains will not run to or from Liverpool Lime Street from Saturday 30 September until Sunday 22 October, with the exception of some Northern midweek services. The following alterations will apply:

East Midlands Trains - trains between Norwich / Nottingham and Liverpool Lime Street will start / terminate at Liverpool South Parkway. Customers should use Merseyrail services between Liverpool South Parkway and Liverpool Lime Street Low Level.

London Midland - trains between Birmingham New Street / Crewe and Liverpool Lime Street will start / terminate at Liverpool South Parkway. Customers should use Merseyrail services between Liverpool South Parkway and Liverpool Central. You can find more information about London Midland services here.

Merseyrail - Liverpool Lime Street Low Level station will remain open and Merseyrail services will continue to run as normal.

Northern

Saturday 30 September - Sunday 8 October

  • Services between Liverpool Lime Street and Wigan North Western / Preston will be replaced by buses between Liverpool Lime Street and St Helens Central.
  • Services between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Victoria / Manchester Airport will be replaced by buses between Liverpool Lime Street and St Helens Junction. This is with the exception of Saturday 30 September and Sunday 1 October when services between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Victoria will be replaced by buses throughout the whole journey.

 

Monday 9 - Friday 20 October

  • Between 06:00 and 20:00, a reduced service will run between Liverpool Lime Street and Wigan North Western / Preston / Manchester Victoria.
  • After 20:00, buses will replace trains between Liverpool Lime Street and Huyton.

 

Saturday 30 September - Sunday 22 October

  • Services between Liverpool Lime Street and Warrington Central / Manchester Oxford Road will be replaced by buses between Liverpool Lime Street and Hunts Cross.

 

Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 October

  •  Services between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Victoria / Preston / Wigan will be replaced by buses between Liverpool Lime Street and Huyton.

 

TransPennine Express

  • Between Liverpool Lime Street and Newcastle. Trains will start / terminate at Leeds.
  • Between Liverpool Lime Street and Scarborough. Trains will start / terminate at Liverpool South Parkway. Customers may use Merseyrail services between Liverpool South Parkway and Liverpool Central.


Virgin Trains -
trains between London Euston and Liverpool Lime Street will start / terminate at Liverpool South Parkway, some services will call additionally at Crewe. Customers should use Merseyrail between Liverpool South Parkway and Liverpool Central or Moorfields.
