Changes to train times

 

Transport for Wales services during Christmas and New Year 2018/19

Please find below a day-by-day summary of the services that Transport for Wales will be running over the Christmas and New Year Bank Holiday period.

Saturday 22 December

 

Services are expected to operate a normal Saturday service.

Sunday 23 December

 

A normal Sunday service is expected to operate.

Monday 24 December

 

From 20:00 services will start to shut down for the Christmas holiday, please check before you travel.

Tuesday 25 December

 

No service on Christmas Day.

Wednesday 26 December

 

No services will operate on Boxing Day.

Thursday 27 December

 

Services will start to run later than usual, around 08:30.

Services to / from Gloucester / Cheltenham Spa will be amended to run between Newport and Gloucester / Cheltenham Spa. Customers should use alternative services between Cardiff Central and Newport.

An reduced timetable will be in place for services between Cardiff Central and Penarth / Bargoed.

Services between Cardiff Central and Treherbert will be diverted to run between Cardiff Bay and Treherbert.

Friday 28 December

 

Services to / from Gloucester / Cheltenham Spa will be amended to run between Newport and Gloucester / Cheltenham Spa. Customers should use alternative services between Cardiff Central and Newport.

An reduced timetable will be in place for services between Cardiff Central and Penarth / Bargoed.

Services between Cardiff Central and Treherbert will be diverted to run between Cardiff Bay and Treherbert.

Saturday 29 December

 

Services are expected to operate as normal, subject to engineering works.

Sunday 30 December

 

Services are expected to operate as normal, subject to engineering works.

Monday 31 December

 
From 20:00 services will start to shutdown for New Years Eve.

Tuesday 1 January 2019

 

There will be no train services on Cardiff Valley lines with the exception of an hourly service between Cardiff Central and Bridgend via the Vale of Glamorgan.

Until 18:00 buses will replace trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Warrington Bank Quay

Wednesday 2 January 2019

 

Services are expected to operate as normal, subject to engineering works.
