Changes to train times

 

Arriva Trains Wales services during Christmas and New Year 2017/18

Please find below a day-by-day summary of the services that Arriva Trains Wales will be running over the Christmas and New Year Bank Holiday period.

Saturday 23 December

 

Services are expected to operate as normal, subject to engineering works.

Sunday 24 December

 

From 20:00, services will start to shut down for the Christmas holiday.

Monday 25 December

 

No service on Christmas Day.

Tuesday 26 December

 

No service on Boxing Day.

Wednesday 27 December

 

Train services will be starting later than normal.

Due to engineering work, Arriva Trains Wales will be unable to operate a train service between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street/Birmingham International.

Thursday 28 December

 

Due to engineering work, Arriva Trains Wales will be unable to operate a train service between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street/Birmingham International.

Friday 29 December

 

Due to engineering work, Arriva Trains Wales will be unable to operate a train service between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street/Birmingham International.

Saturday 30 December

 

Arriva Trains Wales services will be unable to operate train services between Manchester Oxford Road and Manchester Piccadilly, and will start and terminate at Manchester Oxford Road. Additionally, a bus service will be in operation between Manchester Airport and Manchester Piccadilly.

Sunday 31 December

 

From 20:00 trains will start to shut down for the New Year celebrations.

There will also be service changes due to engineering work:

Until 12:25, a replacement bus service will be in operation between Cardiff Central and Barry Island/ Penarth and Bridgend via the ‘Vale of Glamorgan’ line.

Arriva Trains Wales will be unable to operate train services between Manchester Oxford Rd and Manchester Piccadilly, trains will start and terminate at Manchester Oxford Road. Additionally, on New Years Eve train services will finish early.

Arriva Trains Wales will be unable to operate a train service between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street/Birmingham International. Passengers are advised to travel to/from Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International on the first available train service with a different train operator to/from Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International.

Monday 1 January 2018

 

There will be NO VALLEY LINE services.

Train services on other routes will start later than normal.

There will also be engineering work:

Manchester Piccadilly to Chester train services will start and terminate at Warrington Bank Quay, a replacement bus service will be in operation between Manchester Piccadilly and Warrington Bank Quay.

Tuesday 2 January

 

Valley Lines will resume later than normal.

Other services are expected to operate as normal, subject to engineering works.
