Description

Engineering work is taking place over the Christmas period at Liverpool Lime Street as well as in other various areas between Liverpool and Hunts Cross / Huyton. Works will include further signalling upgrades, including moving the control of the signalling network to the Manchester Rail Operating Centre and widening, lengthening and remodelling of platform 6 at Liverpool Lime Street and installation of overhead electrical equipment. Trains are unable to run between Huyton and Liverpool Lime Street and between Hunts Cross and Liverpool Lime Street. An amended Merseyrail service will operate between Hunts Cross and Southport.

East Midlands Trains services will not operate between Liverpool South Parkway and Liverpool Lime Street. Customers should use alternative services between these stations.

London Northwestern Railway services will run between Birmingham New Street / Crewe and Liverpool South Parkway. Customers are advised to travel on Merseyrail train services between Liverpool South Parkway and Liverpool Central.

Merseyrail services will run to an amended timetable between Hunts Cross and Liverpool Central, and also between Liverpool Central and Southport. Details of these timetables can be found here.

Northern services will not operate between Hunts Cross / Huyton and Liverpool Lime Street. Buses are operating between these stations.

TransPennine Express services will not operate between Manchester and Liverpool Lime Street via Huyton and between Liverpool South Parkway and Liverpool Lime Street.

Customers should use alternative services via Warrington and use Merseyrail services between Liverpool South Parkway and Liverpool Lime Street.

The following TransPennine Express services are also amended:

  • 06:12 Liverpool Lime Street to Newcastle will start at York
  • 06:07 Manchester Piccadilly to Liverpool Lime Street will not run
  • 18:04 Newcastle to Liverpool Lime Street will be diverted to terminate at Manchester Piccadilly

 

Virgin Trains services will run between London Euston and Liverpool South Parkway. Customers are advised to travel on Merseyrail train services between Liverpool South Parkway and Liverpool Central / Moorfields or Northern Rail services to / from Liverpool Lime Street..
