Engineering work is taking place in the Glasgow Central area closing most lines.

Caledonian Sleeper

Trains are diverted between Carlisle and Glasgow Central and will not call at Carstairs. Customers should contact Caledonian Sleeper to arrange alternative transport.


Buses will replace trains between Motherwell and Glasgow Central.


Buses will replace trains on the following routes:

  • Glasgow Central and Shoots / Lanark
  • Bridgeton and Motherwell via Whifflet
  • Bridgeton and Newton
TransPennine Express and Virgin Trains

Trains to Glasgow Central will have journey times extended by up to 15 minutes after leaving Motherwell.

Trains from Glasgow Central will depart up 15 minutes earlier than normal then then will run booked time from Motherwell.

Virgin Trains East Coast

Buses replace trains between Edinburgh and Motherwell. Customers should use alternative trains between Motherwell and Glasgow Central.
