Engineering work is taking place between Motherwell and Glasgow Central, closing all lines.


Buses replace trains between Motherwell and Glasgow Central.


Glasgow Central - Lanark

These services are diverted via Mount Florida and will not call at Cambuslang.

Glasgow Central - Newton

These services will operate to / from Larkhall and Motherwell (both hourly services). 

Argyle Line services

Milngavie – Motherwell services will operate between Milngavie and Glasgow Central Low Level.

Balloch – Larkhall / Motherwell services will operate between Balloch and Springburn.

Replacement buses will operate between:

Partick & Motherwell (via both Whifflet & Hamilton)

Glasgow Central & Motherwell  

TransPennine Express:

On Saturday, services running to / from Glasgow Central will be re-timed by a few minutes.

Services on Sunday are not affected by these engineering works.

Virgin Trains:

Services on Saturday are not affected by these engineering works.

On Sunday, services will be diverted between Motherwell and Glasgow Central to run via Mount Florida. Services will be amended to start / terminate slightly earlier / later than usual.

The Edinburgh Glasgow Improvement Programme (EGIP) is a comprehensive package of improvements to Scotland's railway infrastructure.

A Scottish Government priority, the £742m EGIP is being delivered by Network Rail and includes modernisation and upgrades to key junctions and infrastructure as well as widespread electrification of the Scottish rail network, including the main line between Edinburgh and Glasgow and to Stirling and Dunblane.
