Description

Engineering work is taking place between Motherwell and Glasgow, closing all lines.

CrossCountry:

On Saturday trains will be diverted, and will not call at Motherwell. Buses will operate between Glasgow Central and Motherwell.

From Sunday to Wednesday, trains will start from and terminate at Edinburgh. Replacement buses will run between Edinburgh and Motherwell.

London North Eastern Railway:

On Saturday, the 06:48 Glasgow Central to London Kings Cross service will start from Edinburgh at 08:00. A replacement bus will run from Motherwell at 07:15 to Edinburgh. Customers can use valid tickets with ScotRail between Glasgow Central and Motherwell.

London North Eastern Railway services are expected to be extremely busy over the bank holiday weekend. This is due to the West Coast mainline being closed. It is strongly recommended that customers book a seat reservation for their journey to ensure a seat on the train.

ScotRail:

Saturday and Sunday

Ayr - Edinburgh / North Berwick -  Buses replace trains between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh.

Glasgow Central - Lanark - Trains are diverted between Bellshill and Wishaw and will not call at Motherwell or Shieldmuir, but will call additionally at Holytown. Buses will replace trains between Bellshill and Wishaw.

Milngavie / Dalmuir – Larkhall / Motherwell / Cumbernauld (via Glasgow Central Low Level)  - Trains run as normal between Rutherglen / Dalmarnock and Dalmuir / Milngavie. Larkhall is served by Glasgow Central – Newton services, which run to / from Larkhall, calling at all stations via Hamilton. Buses replace trains between Hamilton Central and Motherwell / Cumbernauld and between Bridgeton and Newton.

Dalmuir – Motherwell (via Whifflet) - Trains run as normal between Kirkwood and Dalmuir. Buses replace trains between Bargeddie and Whifflet / Motherwell.

Glasgow Central - Newton - All services between Glasgow Central (High Level) and Newton services are diverted to terminate and start back from Larkhall, calling at all stations via Hamilton.

Sunday to Wednesday

Glasgow Central – Edinburgh (via Shotts) - Train services are cancelled and replaced by buses throughout.

Glasgow Central – Edinburgh (via Carstairs) - Trains will not call at Wishaw. Most services will call additionally at Shieldmuir. Buses will connect Wishaw with trains at Shieldmuir.

Glasgow Central – Lanark - Trains will not call at Wishaw. In addition, some services will not call at Shieldmuir or Carluke. Customers should check individual journeys for more information. Buses will connect Wishaw with trains at Shieldmuir.

Dalmuir / Anderston / Garscadden – Carstairs - Trains will not call at Holytown or Wishaw. Some services will call additionally at Motherwell and Shieldmuir. Buses will connect Holytown and Wishaw with trains at Shieldmuir or Motherwell.

TransPennine Express:

Saturday

Services to / from Glasgow Central will be diverted and will not call at Motherwell.

Sunday

Until 17:00, services to / from Glasgow Central will be replaced by coaches between Carlisle, Lockerbie, Motherwell and Glasgow Central.

Virgin Trains:

Trains will not call at Motherwell. Customers should travel via Glasgow Central and use alternative services to / from Motherwell

Please note that Caledonian Sleeper services are not affected by this engineering work.
