Description

Engineering work is taking place between Didcot Parkway and Chippenham, closing all lines each night from 22:20.

The following services will be amended:

Some trains will be revised / diverted via alternative routes, extending journey times.

Monday & Tuesday

From approximately 22:20 High Speed services that normally run via Chippenham will be diverted via an alternative route not calling at Didcot Parkway, Swindon and Chippenham. Buses will operate for passengers travelling to and from intermediate stations.Some trains will also call additionally at Didcot Parkway.

The 19:12 London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads service will terminate at Bristol Parkway.

The 20:29 Swansea to London Paddington service will terminate at Bristol Parkway. Passengers should use the next available train to Bristol Temple Meads where they can connect with a train to London Paddington.

Wednesday

Late evening High Speed Services from/to London Paddington will be amended as follows:

  • 21:45 London Paddington to Exeter St Davids will operate a few minutes later than normal from Swindon.
  • 22:15 London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads will operate a few minutes later than normal from Didcot Parkway.
  • 22:45 London Paddington to Swansea will operate a few minutes later than normal between Swindon and Newport.
  • 23:30 London Paddington to Cardiff Central will be diverted between Reading and Bath Spa, NOT calling at Didcot Parkway, Swindon and Chippenham. A bus will run from Reading to Swindon and Chippenham. An earlier bus will run from Didcot Parkway to Swindon connecting into this bus. There will also be a bus from Swindon to Chippenham, setting down only at Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads.
  • 23:36 Swindon to Cheltenham Spa will depart later than normal

Thursday

Late evening High Speed Services from London Paddington will be amended as follows:

  • 21:45 London Paddington to Exeter St Davids will be retimed from Swindon and beyond.
  • 22:15 London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads will be diverted between Reading and Bath Spa, not calling at Didcot Parkway, Swindon and Chippenham. Bus from Reading to Chippenham (Bus continues to Bath Spa). Also bus from Reading to Swindon, then setting down only at Kemble, Stroud, Stonehouse, Gloucester and Cheltenham Spa.
  • 22:18 London Paddington to Oxford will call additionally Didcot Parkway.
  • 22:45 London Paddington to Swansea will be diverted between Reading and Bristol Parkway, not calling at Didcot Parkway and Swindon. Buses from Reading to Swindon, also Didcot Parkway to Swindon. Both connect with a bus from Swindon to Chippenham, setting down only at Bath Spa, also Bristol Temple Meads. There will be an earlier bus from Didcot Parkway and Swindon to Bristol Parkway to connect into the diverted train.
  • 22:50 London Paddington to Oxford will call additionally Didcot Parkway.
  • 23:30 London Paddington to Cardiff Central will be diverted between Reading and Bath Spa, not calling at Didcot Parkway, Swindon and Chippenham. A bus will run from Reading to Swindon and Chippenham.
  • 23:20 London Paddington to Oxford will call additionally Didcot Parkway.
