Island Line Trains Christmas & New Year Travel Summary 2010 / 2011


Poor weather conditions

The information given below is how Island Line have planned to run over the Christmas and New Year holiday period. However, the recent poor weather conditions may mean that these plans need to be changed at short notice. Please check the Current Service Disruption information to see if there are any further changes to the plans shown below.


Service Levels

Please note that Monday 3 January 2011 is a Bank Holiday as New Years Day falls on a weekend. Tuesday 4 January is also a Bank Holiday date in Scotland.

Day Service Level (subject to engineering work)
Friday 31 December A normal weekday service will run, but trains will finish earlier in the day than usual
Saturday 1 January

An hourly train service will run between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin.
- Trains will depart from Ryde Pier Head at 45 minutes past each hour (between 08:45 and 21:45).
- Trains will depart from Shanklin at 13 minutes past each hour (between 08:13 and 22:13).
- A train will also run at 22:45 from Ryde Pier Head to Ryde St Johns Road.
- The bus link service between Shanklin and Ventnor will not run on New Years Day.

Sunday 2 January A normal Sunday service will run
Monday 3 January A normal weekday service will run
Tuesday 4 January A normal weekday service will run

Engineering Work

There are no engineering works planned to affect Island Line Trains services over the Christmas and New Year Period

Thursday 30 December A normal weekday service will sail
Friday 31 December Ferries will finish earlier in the day than usual. The last ferries are:
  • Lymington to Yarmouth: 19:25
  • Yarmouth to Lymington: 20:15
  • Portsmouth to Ryde Pier Head: 19:15
  • Ryde Pier Head to Portsmouth: 19:45
Saturday 1 January Ferries will start later in the day than usual. The first ferries are:
  • Lymington to Yarmouth: 08:45
  • Yarmouth to Lymington: 09:55
  • Portsmouth to Ryde Pier Head: 08:15
  • Ryde Pier Head to Portsmouth: 08:45
