Poor weather conditions

The information given below is how Southern have planned to run over the Christmas and New Year holiday period. However, the recent poor weather conditions may mean that these plans need to be changed at short notice. Please check the Current Service Disruption information to see if there are any further changes to the plans shown below.


Service Levels

Please note that Monday 3 January 2011 is a Bank Holiday as New Years Day falls on a weekend. Tuesday 4 January is also a Bank Holiday date in Scotland.

Day Service Level (subject to engineering work)
Friday 31 December A Saturday level of service will run.
Saturday 1 January

Some additional early morning trains will run from London Victoria (see below).

A Sunday level of service will run during the rest of the day

Sunday 2 January A normal Sunday service will run
Monday 3 January A Saturday level of service will run
Tuesday 4 January A normal weekday service will run

Saturday 1 January Between Oxted and East Grinstead The engineering work that was planned to take place has now been cancelled, and trains will now run (running to a Sunday level of service) London Victoria, East Croydon, Sanderstead, Upper Warlingham, Oxted, Hurst Green, Lingfield, Dormans and East Grinstead; also Oxted, Hurst Green, Edenbridge Town, Ashurst, Crowborough and Uckfield
Sunday 2 January Between Tulse Hill and Sutton (Surrey) / Streatham Common Buses replace trains between Tulse Hill and Sutton (Surrey), calling at Streatham, Streatham Common, Mitcham Eastfields then all stations to Sutton. London Bridge / London Victoria, Streatham, Mitcham Junction, Carshalton, Sutton (Surrey), Epsom, Leatherhead and Dorking; also London Bridge, Peckham Rye, Tulse Hill, Streatham, Norbury, Selhurst and East Croydon
Sunday 2 January Between South Croydon and Hurst Green The engineering work that was planned to take place has now been cancelled, and trains will now run London Victoria, East Croydon, Sanderstead, Upper Warlingham, Oxted, Hurst Green, Lingfield, Dormans and East Grinstead; also Oxted, Hurst Green, Edenbridge Town, Ashurst, Crowborough and Uckfield
Sunday 2 January Between Arundel / Angmering and Barnham Buses replace trains between Angmering, Arundel and Barnham, and also between Angmering, Littlehampton and Barnham London Victoria, East Croydon, Gatwick Airport, Hove, Worthing, Angmering, Barnham, Chichester, Havant and Portsmouth Harbour; also London Victoria, East Croydon, Gatwick Airport, Three Bridges, Ifield, Horsham, Pulborough, Arundel, Barnham and Bognor Regis; also Littlehampton, Ford, Barnham and Bognor Regis

  • 00:05 to Worthing
  • 00:07, 00:22 and 00:37 to West Croydon via Crystal Palace
  • 00:14, 02:02 and 03:02 to Three Bridges 0202 0302
  • 00:16 to Tattenham Corner
  • 00:20 to Dorking
  • 00:34 to Sutton (Surrey) via Selhurst
  • 00:42 to East Croydon via Selhurst then at 05, 25 and 45 minutes past each hour up to and including 05:05
  • 01:02, 04:02 and 05:02 to Brighton
