This page contains details of the services available to and from major UK airports over the Christmas and New Year Holiday period.

Where buses are replacing trains, customers should allow plenty of extra time to make flight connections.

Airport Details

Aberdeen Airport
Served by: Bus link from Dyce station (served by ScotRail).

There are no train services running to or from Dyce (or Aberdeen) on Sunday 25 December, Monday 26 December or Sunday 1 January.

On Tuesday 27 December, engineering work is taking place at Edinburgh station. Trains for Aberdeen and Dyce will run to / from Haymarket, with frequent buses running between Edinburgh and Haymarket.

Amended train services are also running on some other days over the Christmas and New Year Holiday period. Please check the train operators page for more details of these changes.
Birmingham Airport
Served by: Arriva Trains Wales, CrossCountry, London Midland and Virgin Trains at Birmingham International station (which is adjacent to the airport building).

There are no train services to or from Birmingham International on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December.

On Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 December, Arriva Trains Wales and London Midland trains between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International will be amended because of engineering work at Birmingham New Street, but train services will be available to and from Birmingham International.

Blackpool Airport
Served by: no direct services, but 5mins walk from Squires Gate station (served by Northern Rail), or bus / taxi from Blackpool North / Blackpool South stations (served by First TransPennine Express and Northern Rail).

There are no train services to or from Blackpool on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December.

There are no engineering works affecting trains in this area over the Christmas and New Year Holiday period, but amended train services are running on some days. Please check each train operators page for more details of these changes.
Bournemouth Airport
Served by: Bus link from Bournemouth station (served by CrossCountry and South West Trains).

There are no train services to or from Bournemouth on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December. The bus link from Bournemouth station also does not run on these dates, or on Sunday 1 January.

Engineering work will be taking place between Reading and Oxford throughout the Christmas and New Year Holiday period. Because of this, CrossCountry trains which usually run Bournemouth will not run south of Oxford. A bus service will run between Oxford and Winchester to connect with South West Trains services to / from Bournemouth via Southampton.

Also, until 10:35 on Sunday 1 January, buses will be replacing trains between Southampton Central and Bournemouth because of engineering work near Southampton.

Bristol Airport
Served by: Bus link from Bristol Temple Meads station (served by CrossCountry and First Great Western).

There are no train services to or from Bristol on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December. The bus link from Bristol Temple Meads also does not run on Sunday 25 December, but a limited service will run on Monday 26 December and Sunday 1 January.

Also, until 17:45 on Sunday 1 January, an amended train service will be running to and from Bristol Temple Meads because of engineering work between Bath Spa and Bristol. Customers may need to travel to Bristol Parkway or Patchway to connect with alternative train services for their journey.

Cardiff International Airport
Served by: Arriva Trains Wales at Rhoose Cardiff International Airport station (a complimentary bus shuttle service takes passengers the short distance between the station and the airport).

There are no train services to or from Rhoose on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December. The shuttle bus services will also not be running on these dates.

On Sunday 1 January, trains will run between Cardiff and Bridgend via Rhoose, but there are no Arriva Trains Wales 'Valley Lines' connections running to or from Cardiff.

Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield
Served by: Bus link from Doncaster Interchange (next door to Doncaster station, which is served by CrossCountry, East Coast, East Midlands Trains, First TransPennine Express, Grand Central, Hull Trains, and Northern Rail).

There are no train services to or from Doncaster on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December.

There are no engineering works affecting trains in this area over the Christmas and New Year Holiday period, but amended train services are running on some days. Please check each train operators page for more details of these changes.
East Midlands Airport
Served by: Bus link from Nottingham or Derby stations (both served by CrossCountry, East Midlands Trains and Northern Rail), and also from Leicester or Loughborough stations (both served by East Midlands Trains ).

There are no train services to or from any of these stations on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December. The bus link services also do not run on these dates, or on Sunday 1 January.

Between Sunday 1 and Tuesday 3 January, engineering work will be taking place around the Derby and Nottingham areas. Some trains will be being diverted with journey times extended by up to 30 minutes.

Edinburgh Airport
Served by: Bus link from Edinburgh or Haymarket stations (both served by CrossCountry, East Coast, First TransPennine Express, ScotRail and Virgin Trains).

There are no train service to or from either station on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December. The bus link services also do not run on Sunday 25 December. ScotRail services also do not run on Sunday 1 January, although other operators services will be available to / from Edinburgh (not Haymarket).

On Tuesday 27 December, engineering work is taking place at Edinburgh station. Some trains will be starting from / terminating at Haymarket, with frequent buses running between Edinburgh and Haymarket.

Exeter International Airport
Served by: Bus link from Exeter St Davids station (served by CrossCountry, First Great Western and South West Trains).

There are no train services to or from Exeter on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December.

On Sunday 1 January, trains between Salisbury and Exeter are disrupted because of engineering work, with buses replacing trains between Salisbury and Yeovil Junction.

Glasgow Airport
Served by: Bus link from Paisley Gilmour Street or Glasgow Queen Street stations (both served by ScotRail) or Glasgow Central (served by East Coast, CrossCountry, First TransPennine Express, ScotRail and Virgin Trains).

There are no train services to or from Paisley or Glasgow on Sunday 25 December. An amended train service will be running in the Glasgow area on Monday 26 December (a map showing where trains will be running is available here).

Between Monday 26 December and Friday 30 December, buses are replacing trains between Glasgow Central and Paisley Gilmour Street / Port Glasgow / Johnstone. Customers for Glasgow Airport should use the bus link services to / from central Glasgow.

Glasgow Prestwick Airport
Served by: ScotRail at Prestwick International Airport station (which is adjacent to the airport building).

There are no train services to or from Prestwick Airport on Sunday 25 December or Sunday 1 January.

On Monday 26 December, buses are replacing trains between Glasgow Central / Ayr and Prestwick Airport because of engineering work in the Paisley area.

Between Tuesday 27 December and Friday 30 December, customers travelling to / from Glasgow will need to use replacement bus services between Glasgow Central and Johnstone because of the engineering work at Paisley.

Humberside Airport
Served by: Bus link from Hull station / Paragon Interchange (served by East Coast, First Hull Trains, First TransPennine Express and Northern Rail).

There are no train services to or from Hull on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December.

There are no engineering works affecting trains in this area over the Christmas and New Year Holiday period, but amended train services are running on some days. Please check each train operators page for more details of these changes.
Inverness Airport
Served by: Bus link from Inverness station (served by East Coast and ScotRail).

There are no train services to or from Inverness on Sunday 25 and Monday 26 December, or Sunday 1 January.

On Tuesday 27 December, engineering work is taking place at Edinburgh station. Trains to / from Inverness may be amended to start from / terminate at Haymarket. Frequent bus services will be running between Edinburgh (Waverley) and Haymarket when required.

Leeds Bradford International Airport
Served by: Bus link from Leeds station (served by CrossCountry, East Coast, East Midlands Trains, First TransPennine Express and Northern Rail), and also from Bradford Interchange station (served by Northern Rail and Grand Central).

There are no train services to or from Leeds or Bradford on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December. Also, there are no Grand Central train services to or from Bradford Interchange on Sunday 1 January.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport
Served by: Bus link from Liverpool South Parkway or Liverpool Lime Street stations (served by East Midlands Trains, First TransPennine Express, London Midland, Merseyrail and Northern Rail).

There are no train services to or from Liverpool on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December.

On Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 December, buses will be replacing Merseyrail trains between Liverpool Central and Bootle Oriel Road / Walton / Rice Lane because of engineering work in the Sandhills area.

London City Airport
Served by: Docklands Light Railway at London City Airport station (which is adjacent to the airport building).

Details of Docklands Light Railway services over the Christmas and New Year Holiday period are available from the Transport for London website.
London Gatwick Airport
Served by: First Capital Connect, First Great Western, Gatwick Express and Southern at Gatwick Airport station (which is adjacent to the airport building).

There are no train services to or from Gatwick Airport on Sunday 25 December, but Gatwick Express will be providing a bus service to and from London Victoria between 06:30 and 16:30.

On Monday 26 December, a reduced train service will run between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport between approximately 05:00 and 22:30.

On Saturday 31 December and Sunday 1 January, a reduced train service will run between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport because of engineering work.

London Heathrow Airport
Served by: Heathrow Connect, Heathrow Express and London Underground Piccadilly Line at Heathrow Central (for Terminals 1, 2 & 3), Heathrow Terminal 4 and Heathrow Terminal 5 stations. All London Heathrow stations are within the Terminal buildings.

There are no train services to or from Heathrow Airport on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December, but Heathrow Express will be providing a frequent bus service to and from London Paddington.

There are no engineering works affecting trains to and from Heathrow Airport over the Christmas and New Year Holiday period, but amended train services are running on some days. Please check each train operators page for more details of these changes.

London Luton Airport
Served by: East Midlands Trains and First Capital Connect (a frequent bus shuttle service runs between the station and the airport terminal).

There are no trains to or from Luton on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December.

There are no engineering works affecting trains to and from Luton over the Christmas and New Year Holiday period, but amended train services are running on some days. Please check each train operators page for more details of these changes.
London Stansted Airport
Served by: CrossCountry, National Express East Anglia and Stansted Express at Stansted Airport station (which is adjacent to the airport building).

Major engineering work is taking place around the London Liverpool Street area over the Christmas and New Year Holiday period, so trains are subject to alterations.

On Saturday 24 December, an amended service will run between Stansted Airport and London. Some trains may be diverted to start from and terminate at Stratford, meaning customers may need to use alternative London Bus or London Underground connections to / from central London.

There are no trains to or from Stansted Airport on Sunday 25 December.

On Sunday 26 December, a train service will run between Stansted Airport and Tottenham Hale for customers to connect with London Underground services to and from central London.

On Tuesday 27 December, an amended service will run between Stansted Airport and London. Some trains may be diverted to start from and terminate at Stratford, meaning customers may need to use alternative London Bus or London Underground connections to / from central London.

Between Saturday 31 December (after 19:30) and Monday 2 January, an amended service will run between Birmingham New Street and Stansted Airport, with buses replacing trains between Nuneaton and Melton Mowbray.

Manchester Airport
Served by: Arriva Trains Wales, First TransPennine Express, Northern Rail at Manchester Airport station (which is adjacent to the airport building).

There are no trains to or from Manchester Airport on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December. There are also no trains to or from the Airport during the early hours of Sunday 1 January.

Throughout the Christmas and New Year Holiday period, engineering work will be taking place in the Stockport area, which may affect customers travelling to and from the airport from the North East, Yorkshire and the Midlands.

Newcastle International Airport
Served by: Tyne & Wear Metro at Newcastle Airport station (which is adjacent to the airport building). Metro services run to and from Newcastle station (served by CrossCountry, East Coast, First TransPennine Express and Northern Rail).

There are no Metro services running to or from the Airport on Sunday 25 or Sunday 1 January. Full details of Metro services over the Christmas and New Year Holiday period are available from the Nexus website.

There are no train services running to or from Newcastle on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December. Also, there are no Northern Rail services around the Tyne / Tees area on Sunday 1 January (but other operators trains will be running).

Newquay Cornwall Airport
Served by: Bus link from Newquay station (served by First Great Western).

There are no train services running to or from Newquay on Sunday 25 or Monday  26 December.

Norwich International Airport
Served by: Bus link from Norwich station (served by East Midlands Trains and National Express East Anglia).

There are no train services running to or from Norwich on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December.

Customers travelling between Norwich and London over the Christmas and New Year Holiday period may be affected by engineering work near London Liverpool Street, which may involve changing trains at Shenfield to connect with buses and London Underground services to / from central London.

Southampton Airport
Served by: CrossCountry and South West Trains at Southampton Airport Parkway station (which is adjacent to the airport building).

There are no train services running to or from Southampton Airport Parkway on Sunday 25 or Monday 26 December.
