Buy in advance and save £s
Advance fares will be available for sale from 24 April 2008 for travel on or after 18 May 2008. These are Single fares offering great value for money on many longer distance journeys.
You must book in advance and fares are subject to availability. Generally, the earlier you book, the better deal you’ll get. You can mix and match Advance fares for a return journey.
Terms and conditions for Advance fares are now the same across all train companies nationwide.
Advance fares are valid only on the date and train shown on the ticket and are non-refundable. However, You can change the time or date of travel before departure of the first reserved train. Any difference in fare is payable, plus a £10 administration fee per person, per Single fare for each change to the journey.
Child discounts apply for all Advance fares.16–25 (Young Persons), Family & Friends (Family), Senior, HM Forces and Disabled Persons Railcard holders save 1/3 on all Standard Class Advance fares.
Senior, HM Forces and Disabled Persons Railcard holders also save 1/3 on all First Class Advance fares. In addition, 16–25 Railcard holders save 1/3 on First Class Advance fares for travel on CrossCountry, East Midlands Trains, First Great Western, National Express East Coast and Virgin Trains services.
If you purchased an Advance Purchase ticket before the 24 April then the terms and conditions applicable to that ticket at the time of purchase will apply.
