Virgin Trains

Saver restrictions will not apply following the morning peak on Thursday 20 March 2008.

Saver restrictions will not apply from Friday 21 March  to  Monday 24 March inclusive.

Monday 24 March

All Virgin Trains services from the Midlands and the North will start and terminate at either Birmingham International or Coventry. There will be 3 trains per hour,  one each to/from Manchester; Liverpool and Glasgow / Preston.

There will be NO shuttle train service between Northampton and Euston and no coaches will operate between Birmingham International and Northampton.

Because of engineering work between London Euston and Northampton - customers are advised that it may be quicker and/or more convenient to use services to/from other London terminals to complete their journey. A map of the possible alternative routes available can be found here, with full journey details available by using the Online Journey Planner.

Suggested alternative routes are as follows:
- Customers travelling to/from Scotland via North East England should consider using National Express East Coast services to/from London Kings Cross.
- Customers travelling to/from Scotland via North West England should consider travelling to Manchester Piccadilly, and then using First TransPennine Express services to/from Sheffield (for East Midlands Trains services to London St Pancras), or Doncaster (for National Express East Coast services to/from London Kings Cross). However, customers travelling to/from Doncaster should be aware of engineering work taking place between Sheffield and Meadowhall, with replacement bus services in operation.
- Customers travelling to/from North Wales and the Midlands should consider travelling to Birmingham and then using Chiltern Railways services between Birmingham Snow Hill and London Marylebone.
- Customers travelling between London Euston and Watford should consider using London Overground services.

Please be aware that on Tuesday 25 March whilst the route to/from London Euston is open, Virgin Trains services will operate a reduced level of service of only 5/6 trains per hour in each direction and these services due to diversions in the East Midlands area will have increased journey times
