E-Day tickets are the cheapest tickets we have to offer when travelling along the Chiltern Railways route, ranging from as little as £4 to £25. There are thousands of seats available between London and: 1. Birmingham 2. Stratford-upon-Avon 3. Great Missenden 4. Banbury 5. Bicester North ... and vice versa. E-Day can only be booked online by using the Chiltern Railways website. You print your ticket on your own home or office printer. You can also choose to have the ticket sent to your mobile phone via a text message. The ticket on the mobile phone is displayed as a barcode which ticket inspectors are able to check by using special scanners - a first for the UK rail industry. E-Day tickets are sold in limited numbers on certain specified trains and can be as little as £4, adult or child, per single journey. They must be booked before 18.00 the day before travel. No refunds available.

Key conditions

The E-Day ticket allows you to make 1 single journey between the specific stations on the date and train shown on the ticket. E-Day can only be used on the date and train shown on the ticket. It may be used for intermediate journeys, but only on the specific date and train shown on the ticket. No other break of journey or travel on alternative trains is allowed. If you want to use a different train you’ll need to pay the full appropriate fare for the journey you’re making. Your E-Day ticket can’t be used as ‘part payment’ towards travel on another service. You must print out your E-Day ticket and have it with you to show to any Chiltern Railways member of staff on request. The printed ticket is your only authority to travel. No refunds however, we may consider a refund if you’re unable to travel for any reason caused by Chiltern Railways If our services are affected by any unplanned disruption on the day you’re travelling you’ll be able to use your E-Day ticket on the nearest appropriate services before or after your scheduled train time.

If you can’t get a ticket for the journey you want you’ll need to either travel at a different time or buy a more expensive ticket valid on the train you want.
