Important changes to Railcards from 17 May 2009
Minimum fare changes to 16-25 and HM Forces Railcard
From 17 May, the two levels of minimum fare for 16-25 and HM Forces Railcards (£8 and £16) were simplified to a £12 minimum fare for Single and Return tickets before 10:00am Monday to Friday.
The minimum fare doesn't apply to Advance fares and no minimum fare applies on public holidays or throughout July and August.
Minimum fare changes to Network Railcard
From 17 May, the £10 minimum fare changed to a £13 minimum fare on all tickets Monday to Friday, except on public holidays.

You can now buy Railcards online!
You can now buy 16-25, Family & Friends and Senior Railcards online. Simply click on the 'Buy Now' link next to the Railcard you are eligible for. Alternatively you can call your preferred Telesales line or visit your local station to apply.
Finding Railcard discounted fares is easy!
When planning a journey with our Journey Planner, in the Passengers and Railcards section simply select the number and type of Railcards that you will be travelling with and click 'Add' after each selection. When the fares are displayed, click on one of the prices to see how much money you've saved by using your Railcard!
16-25 Railcard - £26 for a whole year
Aged 16-25 or a full time student aged 26 or over?
Save 1/3 on most rail fares throughout Great Britain.
16-25 Railcard discounts now apply to ALL Standard and First Class Advance fares.

Online purchase is currently not available for mature students. You will need your educational establishment to sign and stamp your Railcard application form to verify you are a full-time student, so you must apply at a station. Pick up a leaflet from any staffed station ticket office.
Family & Friends Railcard - £26 for a whole year
Travelling with kids?
Save 1/3 on most adult fares and 60% on child fares with a Family & Friends Railcard.
Family & Friends Railcard discounts now even apply to ALL Standard Class Advance fares. Up to four adults and four kids can travel on one Family & Friends Railcard and they don’t need to be related! At least one named cardholder and one child must be travelling together for the whole journey.
Senior Railcard - £26 for a whole year
Network Railcard - £25 for a whole year
Travel often within South East England?
If you travel regularly in the South East of England, buy a Network Railcard and you and up to three other adults can save 1/3 off standard class adult fares (restrictions apply Monday to Friday; see the Network Railcard website for more details). Up to four children, aged 5 to 15 can save 60% on the child fare (£1 minimum fare applies).
The Network Railcard cannot be purchased online, but is available through telesales or manned stations.

Disabled Persons Railcard - £18 for one year or £48 for three years
The Disabled Person’s Railcard saves 1/3 off standard and first class tickets and is available to disabled adults and children (as explained in the Rail Travel Made Easy leaflet) for rail travel. It also allows one accompanying adult to travel at the same discount.
The Disabled Person’s Railcard cannot be purchased online or through telesales or stations, so complete the form available on the Disabled Person's Railcard website and send to the address given in the Rail Travel Made Easy leaflet with proof of your entitlement.
Existing Railcard holders who want to renew their card can do so by phone on 0845 605 0525 or online on the Disabled Person's Railcard website.
HM Forces Railcard - £15 for one year
The HM Forces Railcard costs £15 and it'll save you 1/3 on most rail fares throughout Great Britain for a whole year. That works out to under £2 a month for huge savings.
You're eligible if you're a member of the Regular Forces or a spouse of a member, for more details see eligibility. Service personnel can obtain an application form from their Unit Personnel/Administration Office.
