Amended Great Western Railway service via Severn Tunnel Junction on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 December

Description

Engineering work is taking place overnight between Severn Tunnel Junction and Pilning ending at 14:30 on Sunday, closing some lines. ​​​​​​​

Saturday

The 16:50 Penzance to Cardiff Central will divert after Filton Abbey Wood to terminate Bristol Parkway. Rail connection from Bristol Parkway to Newport and Cardiff Central. Customers for Patchway and Severn Tunnel Junction change at Bristol Temple Meads.

The 20:23 Portsmouth Harbour to Cardiff Central will terminate Bristol Temple Meads. Road transport from Bristol Temple Meads to Filton Abbey Wood, Patchway, setting down only at Severn Tunnel Junction, Newport and Cardiff Central.

The 21:59 Cardiff Central to Bristol Temple Meads will not run and will be replaced by road transport from Cardiff Central, picking up only at Newport and Severn Tunnel Junction, then calling Patchway before setting down only at Filton Abbey Wood and Bristol Temple Meads.

The 22:47 Cardiff Central to Bristol Temple Meads will not run and will be replaced by road transport, picking up only at Newport, then fast to Bristol Temple Meads.

Sunday

Until approximately 12:30 trains between London Paddington and Swansea / Carmarthen will divert between Swindon and Newport (via Gloucester - not calling). The trains will not call at Bristol Parkway. Where no London Paddington - Bristol Parkway service exists, Bristol Parkway customers should travel via Bristol Temple Meads and connecting services.

The following service will be re-timed:-

09:31 London Paddington to Carmarthen will depart earlier at 09:29.

10:45 and 12:45 London Paddington to Swansea, will depart earlier at 10:30 and 12:30, respectively.

11:45 London Paddington to Carmarthen will depart earlier at 11:30. Trains from Carmarthen/Swansea will arrive/depart Swindon, Reading and arrive London Paddington much later than normal.

Road transport will operate between Bristol Parkway and Newport (fast) taking 45 minutes.

Also:

08:58 Bristol Parkway to Swansea will start from Newport. Customers from Bristol Parkway travel by later road transport (as above), then later rail connection Newport-Swansea.

09:25 Swindon to London Paddington will depart earlier at 09:24.

09:55 Bristol Parkway to London Paddington will depart earlier at 09:35.

10:54 Cheltenham Spa to London Paddington will operate later than normal from Gloucester and beyond.

13:30 Swindon to London Paddington will depart 13:35.

Until 14:25 Trains between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour / Taunton (some beyond) will be amended as follows:-

The following trains will start from Bristol Parkway:

The 09:18, 10:25, 12:25, and 13:25 Cardiff Central to Portsmouth Harbour; 10:00 Cardiff Central to Taunton, also 10:55 Cardiff Central to Penzance and 14:00 Cardiff Central to Penzance.

The following trains will divert after Filton Abbey Wood to terminate Bristol Parkway:

The 07:59 and 09:46 Exeter St Davids to Cardiff Central.

The 09:08 Portsmouth Harbour to Cardiff Central.

The 09:22 Frome to Cardiff Central.

The 09:45 Plymouth to Cardiff Central.

The 10:13 Portsmouth & Southsea to Cardiff Central.

The 12:00 Cardiff Central to Exeter St Davids and the 13:00 Cardiff Central to Penzance will start from Bristol Temple Meads.

The 08:47 Penzance to Cardiff Central will terminate Bristol Temple Meads.

Also:

The 11:25 Cardiff Central(starting Bristol Parkway) to Portsmouth Harbour will operate in 2 parts, the 12:00 Bristol Parkway to Westbury and 13:04 Westbury to Portsmouth Harbour. Customers to change trains at Westbury.

The 14:25 Cardiff Central to Portsmouth Harbour will operate in 2 parts, the14:25 Cardiff Central to Bristol Temple Meads and 15:18 Bristol Temple Meads to Portsmouth Harbour. Customers to change trains at Bristol Temple Meads.

The 11:08 Portsmouth Harbour to Cardiff Central will operate in 2 parts (terminating Bristol Temple Meads), the 11:08 Portsmouth Harbour to Westbury and 13:06 Westbury to Bristol Temple Meads. Customers to change trains at Westbury.

and:

The 10:05 Bristol Temple Meads to Cardiff Central will not run. A replacement bus service will operate between Newport and Bristol Parkway (fast) taking 45 minutes.

There will also be road transport between Newport, Severn Tunnel Junction, Patchway and Bristol Parkway.

Rail connections Cardiff Central-Newport.

The 09:05 Bristol Temple Meads to Cardiff Central will not run and will be part replaced by earlier road transport:

1 bus fast from Bristol Temple Meads to Newport

1 bus from Bristol Temple Meads to Filton Abbey Wood, Patchway, Severn Tunnel Junction and Newport.

Rail connections will run between Newport and Cardiff Central.
