The Railway Food Collection

At a time when food banks are facing unprecedented need, the rail industry is working together with the Trussell Trust, a charity that is working to stop UK hunger and poverty, to put temporary food bank donation points in place at Bedford, Brighton and Glasgow Central stations through The Railway Food Collection regional pilot scheme.

The donation points will be staffed by Trussell Trust volunteers, and will be open at the following times and locations:

  • Bedford station: Inside the main entrance on Ashburnham Road, every Tuesday from 7am – 1pm from Tuesday 21st July, concluding on Tuesday 18th August.
  • Brighton station: Inside the main entrance on Trafalgar Street, every Tuesday from 7am – 1pm from Tuesday 21st July, concluding on Tuesday 18th August.
  • Glasgow Central station: Located off the main concourse in front of Oliver Bonas, every Thursday from 7am – 6pm from Thursday 23rd July, concluding on Thursday 20th August

Passengers, staff and the general public will be able to drop off non-perishable goods at these locations to support people who are in crisis, with items most in need including:

  • Tinned vegetables
  • Tinned meat
  • Tinned fruit
  • Cereal
  • Packet mashed potatoes
  • UHT milk
  • Rice puddings

The safety of our passengers and staff remains our priority, and extra steps have been taken to help passengers donate safely through socially distanced drop offs and by ensuring volunteers have personal protective equipment.
