Trains between Stockport and Sheffield
Description
Following a tree blocking the railway between Stockport and Sheffield all lines have reopened. As service recovers, trains may still be delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.
Disruption is expected until 20:30.
East Midlands Railway customer advice:
There was a tree blocking the railway at New Mills. This is between Chinley and Hazel Grove trains on the Norwich/Nottingham/Sheffield/Manchester/Liverpool route.

Trains running through the area in both direction may be diverted, where they won't divert they may be delayed or cancelled.
How do I get where I need to be?
You should continue to travel as originally planned however your journey may be delayed.
For customers wanting to travelling from Sheffield towards Manchester and Liverpool:
East Midlands Railway have arranged for you to use your ticket at no extra cost from Sheffield with Northern and CrossCountry for trains towards Leeds. Then onwards with TransPennine Express for trains to Manchester Stations and Liverpool Lime Street.
All of these alternative route options are available in the opposite direction too. Don’t worry about your ticket, other train operators know about the disruption to your journey and your ticket can be used at no extra cost on their trains.
These arrangements will remain in place until the line re-opens and the train service recovers.

Northern services between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport.
If you are travelling from Stockport towards Liverpool Lime Street, you can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following:
Northern services from Stockport towards Manchester Piccadilly
TransPennine Express services from Manchester Piccadilly towards Liverpool Lime Street
Northern services from Manchester Oxford Road towards Liverpool Lime Street
East Midlands Railway services from Manchester Piccadilly towards Liverpool Lime Street
