Engineering work is taking place between Bristol Parkway and Severn Tunnel Junction, closing some lines.


The following alterations will be in place:

  • 07:00 Cardiff Central to Manchester Piccadilly will start at Bristol Temple Meads
  • 17:05 Manchester Piccadilly to Cardiff Central will terminate at Bristol Temple Meads
  • 05:20 Bristol Temple Meads to Cardiff Central will not run, a rail replacement bus will operate between Bristol Temple Meads and Newport.

Great Western Railway

The following will be in place:

  • Trains between Portsmouth Harbour / Taunton / Bristol Temple Meads and Cardiff Central will start / terminate at Bristol Parkway
  • Trains between Bristol Parkway and Weston-super-Mare will start / terminate at Filton Abbey Wood.
  • One train per hour will run between Cardiff Central and Bristol Temple Meads, calling at Newport, Severn Tunnel Junction, Chepstow, Gloucester, Bristol Parkway and Filton Abbey Wood
  • Trains between Bristol Parkway and Cardiff Central may be cancelled, revised or diverted
  • An hourly service will run between London Paddington and Bristol / South Wales and may be diverted via Gloucester or revised.
Road Transport will operate as follows:
  • Half hourly between Newport and Bristol Parkway
  • Hourly between Severn Tunnel Junction and Bristol Parkway, calling at Patchway
  • 2 buses per day will run between Newport and Filton Abbey Wood, calling at Severn Tunnel Junction

Customers travelling between London Paddington and Bristol Parkway should travel via Bristol Temple Meads and connecting trains except during the evening peak from London Paddington and during the morning peak from Bristol Parkway when through services will be available.
