Easter Travel Summary 2020

Friday 10 April (Good Friday)

An amended Sunday service will run.

Additionally engineering work between London Fenchurch Street and Pitsea via Rainham means trains will not run between London Fenchurch Street and Barking and will instead be diverted to start from / terminate at London Liverpool Street, calling additionally at Stratford. There will be no service at Barking until after 07:00.

Buses will run between Upminster and Grays calling at Rainham and Purfleet.

Saturday 11 April

There will be no service at London Fenchurch Street. Trains will not run between Barking and Grays via Rainham, buses will run between Upminster and Grays, calling at Rainham and Purfleet.

Sunday 12 April (Easter Sunday)

There will be no service at London Fenchurch Street. Trains between Barking and Grays via Rainham will not run.

Buses will run between Upminster and Grays and also between Grays and Pitsea.

Monday 13 April (Easter Monday)

There will be no service at London Fenchurch Street

An amended Sunday service will run, buses will replace trains between Grays and Pitsea.

Caledonian Sleeper

 

Friday 10 April (Good Friday)

Engineering work is taking place across the Caledonian Sleeper network, closing various lines.

As a result of this, sleeper services on Friday 10 April will be diverted via the East Coast Mainline and therefore are unable to call at Watford Junction, Crewe, Preston and Carlisle.

The London Euston to Glasgow Central service will also be diverted via Shotts and Mount Florida and will be unable to call at Carstairs and Motherwell.

Sunday 12 April (Easter Sunday)

The 21:45 Glasgow Central to London Euston and the 21:34 London Euston to Glasgow Central services will be diverted away from their normal route, and will be subject to revised departure / arrival times at Glasgow Central.

Monday 13 April (Easter Monday)

All Caledonian Sleeper services between London and Scotland will be diverted on alternative routes between London and Scotland, and will not call at Watford Junction, Crewe, Preston or Carlisle.

Trains will divert and will not call at Wolverhampton. A rail replacement bus service will operate between Wolverhampton and Stafford.

Buses will replace trains between Edinburgh and Motherwell.

No trains between Patchway and Severn Tunnel Junction. Buses are in operation between Bristol Parkway and Newport.

Buses will replace trains between Corby and Kettering, and also between Market Harborough and Bedford.

From 19:00 buses will replace trains between Doncaster and Gainsborough Lea Road.

Sunday 12 April (Easter Sunday)

Buses will replace trains between Corby and Kettering, and also Market Harborough and Luton.

Trains will not run between Warrington Central and Liverpool Lime Street. A direct bus service will run between Warrington Central and Liverpool Lime Street.

Monday 13 April (Easter Monday)

Trains will be diverted between Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street via and calling additionally at Newton-le-Willows. Buses will run between Newton-le-Willows and Widnes calling at Warrington Central to connect with the trains.

Engineering work is taking place between Doncaster and Gainsborough Lea Road. As a result of this, buses replace trains between Doncaster and Lincoln.

Gatwick Express

 
As a result of low passenger numbers due to the current travel restrictions, Gatwick Express have suspended their service until further notice.

Grand Central

 

As a result of low passenger numbers due to the current travel restrictions, Grand Central have suspended their service until further notice.

Great Northern

 

Friday 10 April  (Good Friday)

Engineering work is taking place between Ely and Kings Lynn closing all lines, Buses will replace trains between Ely and Kings Lynn.

Saturday 11 April

Engineering work is taking place between Finsbury Park and Moorgate, closing all lines. As a result of this, there will be no trains between Finsbury Park and Moorgate.

Services that usually run to Moorgate will instead be diverted to / from London Kings Cross.

Customers may use London Buses and London Underground services between Moorgate and Finsbury Park

Engineering work is taking place between Alexandra Palace and Stevenage via Hertford North closing the line.

Buses will replace trains between Alexandra Palace and Stevenage via Hertford North.

Buses are also replacing trains between Ely and Kings Lynn.

Engineering work is taking place in the Westbury area, as a result of this The 09:15 Penzance to London Paddington will depart earlier at 09:13.

Engineering work is taking place in the Guildford area from Friday 10 to Friday 17 April. 

Trains will run to an amended timetable between Reading and Ash.

Buses will run between North Camp and Redhill / Gatwick Airport, calling at Guildford.

Engineering work is taking place between London Paddington and Hayes & Harlington, closing some lines.

As a result, Heathrow Express will be running a reduced half hourly service between London Paddington and Heathrow Airport Terminal 5. These services will also start later than usual, with the fist services of the day running as follows:

  • 07:27 Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 - London Paddington


The train shuttle service which run between Heathrow Airport Terminals 2 & 3 and Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 will also be retimed.

Monday 13 April (Easter Monday)

Hull Trains

 

As a result of the current travel restrictions and low passenger numbers, Hull Trains have suspended their service until further notice.

Some services to and from Aberdeen will have amended calling patterns.

Buses will replace trains between Doncaster and Hull.

Engineering work is taking place between the Carstairs and Rutherglen areas. If you are travelling with LNER you should use alternative services between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central via Motherwell or direct between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street.

Sunday 12 April (Easter Sunday)

If you are travelling between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central via Motherwell or direct between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street you should use other train operators

Buses will be running in place of trains between Doncaster and Hull.

LNER services will be unable to run between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central. Customers are advised to use alternative services between Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Sheerness Line: Services are re-timed to connect with the altered services between Rainham, Ramsgate, Canterbury East & Dover.

  • Trains will run between Kentish Town and Gravesend. Customers should use Southeastern trains between Gravesend and Rochester and then their replacement buses between Rochester and Rainham

TfL Rail will run a Saturday Service on Good Friday with 2 trains per hour running between London and: 

  • Heathrow T4
  • Hayes & Harlington
  • Reading

London Liverpool Street - Shenfield

TfL Rail will run an amended service on Good Friday with 6 trains per hour between London and  Shenfield.

After 07:30, an amended and reduced train service will run. No trains will call at Acton Main Line or West Ealing

After 05:30, and amended and reduced train service will run due to the Coronavirus.
