Fewer people travel by rail over the Spring bank holiday (Saturday 25 May to Monday 27 May 2019) which is why rail companies decide to carry out essential improvement and engineering work across the rail network during this time.

During the Spring bank holiday, some train companies may also be making changes to their usual timetable and some train times to match services to the number of customers travelling.

The following major engineering work is taking place:

  • Amended service in the Motherwell area on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May
  • Major improvement work at London Euston from Saturday 25 until Monday 27 May
  • Amended service between Crewe and Liverpool Lime Street / Preston from Saturday 25 until Monday 27 May
  • An amended service at London St Pancras International from Saturday 25 until Monday 27 May, affecting East Midlands Trains and Thameslink

Information on line closures is available on our future engineering works page.
