Description

On Saturday and Sunday, engineering work is taking place between Preston and Carnforth / Oxenholme, in the Carlisle area and between Motherwell and Glasgow Central.

On Monday, engineering work is taking place between Carlisle and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh.

This has resulted in a various number of line closures throughout the engineering work.

Caledonian Sleeper

On Sunday only, the 21:45 Glasgow Central to London Euston will divert via Holytown, not calling at Motherwell.

Also due to engineering work at London Euston, all Caledonian Sleeper trains will be diverted via the East Coast Main Line, starting / terminating at London Kings Cross. 

Northern

Saturday and Sunday only

Buses will replace trains between Preston / Lancaster / Oxenholme and Windermere.

TransPennine Express

Saturday and Sunday

Buses will replace trains between Preston and Carlisle, calling at Lancaster, Oxenholme and Penrith.

Buses will also replace trains between Carlisle and Edinburgh, calling at Lockerbie only. If you require travel to / from Haymarket, please use Edinburgh as buses will not call at Haymarket. 

If you are travelling to / from Glasgow Central, please use the replacement buses operated by Virgin Trains, which are running between Carlisle and Glasgow Central.

If you are travelling to / from Motherwell, please travel via Glasgow Central using alternative ScotRail trains between Motherwell and Glasgow Central.

If you are travelling between Manchester and Scotland, you are advised to use alternative services routed via Leeds and Newcastle.

Additionally on Sunday

The 09:05 Manchester Airport to Glasgow Central and the 20:15 Edinburgh to Manchester Airport services will be cancelled throughout.

Monday

Buses will replace trains between Carlisle and Edinburgh, calling at Lockerbie only. If you require travel to / from Haymarket, please use Edinburgh as buses will not call at Haymarket. 

If you are travelling to / from Glasgow Central, please use the replacement buses operated by Virgin Trains, which are running between Carlisle and Glasgow Central.

If you are travelling to / from Motherwell, please travel via Glasgow Central using alternative ScotRail trains between Motherwell and Glasgow Central.

Virgin Trains

On Saturday and Sunday, buses will replace trains between Preston and Glasgow Central. A change of bus may be required at Carlisle.

On Monday, buses will replace trains between Carlisle and Glasgow Central.

On all days, customers travelling to / from Edinburgh should use the replacement buses operated by TransPennine Express between Carlisle and Edinburgh.
