Engineering work is taking place near Wakefield Westgate, closing various lines.


Trains between Sheffield and Leeds will be re-timed and diverted. These trains will be unable to call at Wakefield Westgate. Road transport will be provided to run between Sheffield, Wakefield Westgate and Leeds.

East Midlands Trains

Most trains will not call at Wakefield Westgate and will be diverted via an alternative route.


On Saturday night, the 22:00 London Kings Cross to Leeds service will divert and not call at Wakefield Westgate. A bus will be provided between Doncaster and Wakefield Westgate.

On Sunday, a reduced service will run between London Kings Cross and Leeds. These trains will also be diverted between Doncaster and Leeds, and will be unable to call at Wakefield Westgate. Buses will be provided to run between Doncaster and Wakefield Westgate.


Replacement buses will run between:

  • Wakefield Westgate and Doncaster.
  • Wakefield Westgate and Moorthorpe.
  • Wakefield Westgate and Pontefract Monkhill.

Services between Leeds and Doncaster will be amended to run between Leeds and Wakefield Westgate. Services between Leeds and Sheffield via Moorthorpe will run between Leeds and Wakefield Westgate, and also between Moorthorpe and Sheffield.

Services between Leeds and Knottingley via Wakefield Westgate will be diverted, and will not call at Wakefield Westgate / Kirkgate, Streethouse, Featherstone or Pontefract Tanshelf.
