Engineering work is taking place in the Cardiff Central area, closing some lines on Sunday morning and evening. 

How will this engineering work affect train services?

Great Western Railway

The following changes will be in place:

  • 07:53 Swansea to London Paddington will start from Cardiff Central. To allow customers to connect with the train at Cardiff Central, a direct bus service will run from Swansea to Cardiff. There will also be another bus in place from Neath to Cardiff Central, calling at Port Talbot Parkway and Bridgend.
  • 20:45 and 21:33 London Paddington to Swansea will be diverted between Cardiff Central and Bridgend. This will extend journeys between Cardiff Central and Swansea by approximately 25 minutes.

Transport for Wales

During Sunday evening, the following changes will be in place:

  • 20:30 Manchester Piccadilly to Cardiff Central will terminate at Hereford. A replacement bus service will run between Hereford and Cardiff Central, calling at all intermediate stations.
  • 21:15 Carmarthen to Hereford will terminate at Newport. A rail replacement bus service will run from Newport to Hereford, calling at all intermediate stations.
