Various Great Western Railway routes to / from London Paddington

Engineering work is taking place between Reading and Tilehurst on various tracks, causing some closures.

Most High Speed Services to London Paddington will be retimed between Didcot Parkway and Reading. However most will arrive at their normal time at London Paddington.


Trains between London Paddington and Cardiff Central / Swansea / Carmarthen (terminating  /starting Bristol Parkway until mid-afternoon) will be reduced to an hourly frequency all day – the following trains will not run:

  • 10:17, 11:17, 12:17, 13:17, 14:17, 15:17 and 17:17 London Paddington to Cardiff Central.
  • 16:17, 18:17 and 19:17 London Paddington to Swansea, 20:17 London Paddington to Bristol Parkway.
  • 09:52, 10:51 Swansea to London Paddington, 10:03 Bristol Parkway to London Paddington.
  • 12:50, 13:41, 14:50, 15:50, 16:50, 17:50 Cardiff Central to London Paddington.


The following trains will call additionally Didcot Parkway:

  • 10:29, 12:29, 18:29 London Paddington to Weston-super-Mare, 14:29, 16:29 London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads.
  • 09:30, 12:30, 13:30. 14:30, 15:30, 16:30 and 18:30 Bristol Temple Meads to London Paddington,
  • 09:55 Weston-super-Mare to London Paddington.


  • 10:32, 12:32, 14:32, 16:32, 18:32 London Paddington to Cheltenham Spa will start from Swindon.
  • 09:50, 11:55, 14:01, 15:58, 18:00 Cheltenham Spa to London Paddington will terminate Swindon.
  • 08:58, 13:01 and 14:58 Cheltenham Spa to London Paddington will not call Didcot Parkway.


The following trains will not call Slough:

  • 11:46, 13:46, 15:46 and 18:46 London Paddington to Hereford,
  • 10:46, 12:46, 14:46 and 16:46 London Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill, 17:46 and 19:46 London Paddington to Great Malvern.


  • All day local trains between London Paddington and Didcot Parkway will use alternative platforms at Tilehurst, Goring & Streatley and Cholsey and will not call at Pangbourne. Customers for Pangbourne travel by bus to Tilehurst for a bus to Pangbourne taking 10 minutes. Customers from Pangbourne travel by bus from Pangbourne to Tilehurst to connect into the trains.
