Description

Engineering work is taking place at Cardiff Central stations closing some lines which has resulted in restricted access and closure of platforms.

Trains will not run between Newport and Cardiff Central. Customers should use Great Western Railway trains between Newport and Cardiff Central.

Great Western Railway

Trains from London Paddington to Cardiff Central / Swansea will be subject to re-platforming.

Trains from Swansea / Cardiff Central to London Paddington will be retimed to depart slightly later than normal.

Additionally on Sunday, most trains from Swansea to London Paddington will depart 1 minute earlier than normal to assist with platform availability. 

Most trains between Cardiff Central and Bristol Temple Meads / Penzance / Portsmouth Harbour / Taunton will not run between Cardiff Central and Newport. Customers should use other Great Western Railway trains between Cardiff Central and Newport to complete your journey.

Transport for Wales

Replacement buses will run between:

  •  Penarth and Radyr
  •  Cardiff Central and Barry Island
  •  Cardiff Central to Bridgend via Llantwit Major.

Trains running between Radyr and Treherbert / Aberdare / Merthyr Tydfil will run to a special timetable.

Trains between Manchester Airport / Manchester Piccadilly and Cardiff Central will only run between Manchester Airport / Manchester Piccadilly and Newport.

Trains between Cheltenham Spa and Cardiff Central are diverted and will run between Gloucester and Ebbw Vale Town.

Trains between Cardiff Central and Fishguard Harbour / Milford Haven / Pembroke Dock will only run between Swansea and Fishguard Harbour / Milford Haven / Pembroke Dock. Trains will run to a special timetable between Cardiff Central and Swansea.

Trains to / from Rhymney will run between Rhymney and Cardiff Queen Street / Cardiff Bay.
