Avanti West Coast between London Euston / Birmingham New Street and Scotland

Engineering work is taking place in the Leyland area, which is a few miles south of Preston, closing all lines.

Avanti West Coast and TransPennine Express are also affected by engineering work in the Liverpool Lime Street and Motherwell areas.

No trains will run between Wigan North Western and Preston and between Buckshaw Parkway and Preston.

Avanti West Coast

Trains between Birmingham International and Scotland will run between Birmingham International and Wigan North Western only.

Trains between London Euston and Scotland will run between London Euston and Warrington Bank Quay only.

Buses will run between Crewe, Warrington Bank Quay, Wigan North Western and Preston.


Buses will replace trains between Buckshaw Parkway and Preston and between Wigan North Western and Preston.

Trains that normally run between Preston and Blackpool South are extended to run between Blackburn and Blackpool South. If you are travelling between Manchester and Blackpool South, you are advised to travel via Blackburn and use the extended train service.

TransPennine Express

No trains will run between Manchester Airport and Preston.

A direct bus service will run between Manchester Airport and Preston. If you are travelling to intermediate stations between Manchester Airport and Preston, you should use Northern trains or replacement buses to complete your journey.
