Description

Engineering work, part of the East Coast Upgrade, is continuing throughout 2021. From Friday 23 until Sunday 25 April, the line will be closed to London Kings Cross and lines to Moorgate and to London St Pancras International via Finsbury Park will be closed on the Saturday and Sunday.

Grand Central:

We strongly advise you not to travel to or from London on Saturday and Sunday

A reduced service will run between Sunderland / Bradford Interchange and Finsbury Park on Friday. There are no Grand Central services running on Saturday and Sunday.

Great Northern and Thameslink:

We strongly advise you not to travel to or from London on Saturday and Sunday

Friday 23 April:

No trains will run between Finsbury Park and London Kings Cross.

You can use Thameslink services to / from London St Pancras International, or London Underground / London Bus services between Finsbury Park and London Kings Cross to complete your journey.

Trains between Brighton and Cambridge and between Horsham and Peterborough will continue to run, as will services between Welwyn Garden City / Hertford North and Moorgate.

Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April:

No trains will run between St Neots and London Kings Cross. There are also no trains to or from Moorgate or London St Pancras International (via Finsbury Park).

Buses will run between:

  • St Neots and Bedford.
  • St Neots and Hitchin.
  • Letchworth Garden City and Welwyn Garden City.
  • Stevenage and Luton Airport Parkway.
  • Potters Bar and St Albans.
  • Potters Bar and Cockfosters (Underground station) via Hadley Wood.
  • Stevenage and Alexandra Palace via Hertford North.

You can use Thameslink services between Bedford / Luton Airport Parkway / St Albans and London St Pancras International.

You can also use London Underground services between Cockfosters and London Kings Cross / Moorgate, and between Bounds Green and London Kings Cross / Moorgate (change at Bowes Park for Bounds Green).

Hull Trains:

No trains will run from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 April.

LNER:

You must have a seat reservation to travel on LNER trains and you are advised not to travel into London from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 April.

Friday 23 April:

On Friday, there are no trains between Stevenage and London Kings Cross. An hourly service will run between Stevenage and Leeds, and two trains per hour between Peterborough and Newcastle / Scotland. Services to and from York / Lincoln will run to and from Peterborough. Other LNER services will be cancelled.

If you want to travel to London you can transfer at Peterborough or Stevenage for alternative services to St Pancras International or Moorgate.

Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April:

There are no trains between St Neots and London Kings Cross with trains running to either St Neots or Peterborough. An amended timetable will be in operation, with some trains cancelled.

Replacement buses will run between St Neots and Bedford, for Thameslink connections to / from London.

From 26 April:

Engineering work will continue on the East Coast line until 6 June, more information on this can be found here.
