Description

Major engineering work took place during the August bank holiday period, from Saturday 28 to Monday 30 August. This work has now been completed and trains are running normally.

Here are summaries of the major engineering work projects that took place during the August bank holiday weekend:

COMPLETED: London St Pancras International - Mill Hill Broadway: The lines were closed all weekend to allow for construction work on the new station at Brent Cross, and the renewal of switches and crossings (moveable sections of track that guide trains from one track to another). 

COMPLETED: London Euston: £17 million of planned railway upgrades took place between London, the West Midlands and North West England.  HS2 preparatory work was also carried out, to help deliver the enhanced high-speed railway.

COMPLETEDMoorgate - Finsbury Park: The line was closed all weekend for maintenance work to take place, to improve passenger safety. 

In addition, the Summer engineering project to replace a major junction on the approach to Bristol Temple Meads station continued throughout the bank holiday weekend.
