When in Dundee

V&A Dundee is Scotland’s first design museum and the first V&A outside of London. The stunning architectural building by renowned, award-winning Japanese architects Kengo Kuma & Associates, was designed to represent a Scottish cliff face. The museum showcases Scottish design and its international impact through the past and present, as well as collections from around the world.

Enjoy a number of scenic green spaces around Dundee, whether you are after a place to relax like Slessor Gardens located close to the city centre, or something a bit more adventurous at Monikie County Park where a lot of activities are offered on-site.

While there are plenty of choices for food, drink and places to eat in the city, have a lookout for Dundee cake. It was said to be created for Mary, Queen of Scots because of her dislike for glace cherries in her fruitcake. Formerly mass-produced by, now defunct marmalade brand, James Keiller & Son, the rich fruit cake uses blanched almonds instead of cherries and is often distinguished by arranging them in concentric circles on top.
