West Lothian Council Concessionary Fares Scheme

Discounted concessionary travel is available in the West Lothian Council area.


Flat fare of £2 single and £4 return between stations in list (A), and from stations in list (A) to stations in list (B). A 50% discount will apply for journeys between stations defined in (A) and (C) below. Companion is charged the same fare as the cardholder.


Applies to off-peak train services operated by ScotRail between any two West Lothian stations. Tickets are valid on day of issue only.

The discounted fares are not available before 09:15 on weekdays or on weekday evening peak services which depart from Edinburgh, Haymarket, Glasgow Queen Street or Glasgow Central between about 16:40 and 18:10. For details contact ScotRail. There are no weekend restrictions.

Travel must be by a direct route from or to a West Lothian station or by changing trains only at Edinburgh or Haymarket where there is no direct service.

Passengers travelling by trains from staffed stations must purchase their tickets before boarding. Return tickets must be purchased on the train from West Lothian or from booking offices at Bathgate or Linlithgow stations.

A) Within West Lothian i.e. Addiewell, Armadale, Bathgate, Blackridge, Breich, Fauldhouse, Kirknewton, Linlithgow, Livingston North and South, Uphall and West Calder.

B) From stations in (A) at the flat fare to/from Airdrie, Bellshill, Brunstane, Caldercruix, Camelon, Carfin, Cleland, Coatbridge Sunnyside, Coatdyke, Croy, Curriehill, Dalmeny, Drumgelloch, Edinburgh, Edinburgh Park, Falkirk Grahamston, Falkirk High, Hartwood, Holytown, Haymarket, Kingsknowe, Larbert, Newcraighall, Polmont, Shotts, Slateford, South Gyle, Wester Hailes.

C) From stations in (A) at 50% discount to/from Bellgrove, Blairhill, Cambuslang, Carntyne, Drem, Dunbar, Easterhouse, Garrowhill, Glasgow Central, Glasgow Queen Street, Glasgow High Street, Longniddry, Musselburgh, North Berwick, Partick, Prestonpans, Shettleston, Uddingston and Wallyford..
