Free Travel for Under-11's in London
To improve young people's access to education, sport and leisure activities throughout the Capital, Transport for London and National Rail offer free travel to accompanied Under-11's on TfL services and selected National Rail routes.
Up to 4 children aged 5 -10 years old can travel free on the following Transport for London services when accompanied by an Adult travelling with a valid ticket, or validated Oyster/contactless card.
This includes;
- All London Underground services,
- the whole of the London Overground network,
- all Elizabeth line services (including to Shenfield and Reading)
- All DLR routes,
- London Tram
- all London Buses
By agreement, this facility is also available on selected 'inter-available' routes on National Rail services across London.
Permitted routes are as follows:
- Amersham and London Marylebone - (Chiltern Railways)
- Finsbury Park and London Kings Cross / Moorgate - (Great Northern)
- West Hampstead Thameslink and London Bridge / Elephant & Castle - (Thameslink)
- London Liverpool Street and Seven Sisters / Tottenham Hale / Walthamstow Central (but not at intermediate stations) - (Greater Anglia)
- Stratford (London) and London Liverpool Street - (Greater Anglia)
- Upminster and London Fenchurch Street or London Liverpool Street (via Barking) but not for entry/exit at Forest Gate or Maryland - (c2c)
- West Ruislip and South Ruislip - (Chiltern Railways)
Children travelling free do not require tickets and will be allowed through ticket gates by staff. The accompanying adult should use gates as normal.
