Changes to train times

 

East Midlands Trains services during Christmas and New Year 2018/19

Please find below a day-by-day summary of the services that East Midlands Trains will be running over the Christmas and New Year Bank Holiday period.

Saturday 22 December

 

Normal service.

Sunday 23 December

 

A reduced service of two trains per hour will operate to / from London St Pancras International (two trains towards, and two trains from). Services will be retimed, and will depart London St Pancras International earlier than usual and arrive at London St Pancras International later than usual.

Monday 24 December

 

East Midlands Trains local services will begin to shut down from 16:00 with shut down complete by 21:00. Some services may depart earlier than scheduled and some may terminate at earlier stations along the route.

Major engineering work will take place in the Nottingham area. Services on the Leicester - Lincoln route will terminate at Nottingham. Services on the Matlock - Newark Castle will be extended to and from Lincoln. Other train services are subject at alterations and changes due to capacity and platforming at Nottingham.

Engineering work is taking place between London St Pancras International and Luton and between Bedford and Kettering. More details can be found below and here.

  • A reduced service of two trains per hour will operate between London St Pancras International and Bedford.
  • A replacement bus service will run between Bedford and Corby.
  • An hourly service will run between Kettering and Nottingham, and also between Kettering and Sheffield (via Derby and Chesterfield).

 

The last train from Kettering towards Leicester and beyond will depart just after 20:00, as will the last train between Bedford and London St Pancras International.

Thursday 27 December

 

The following engineering work will take place:

  • Major engineering work will take place in the Nottingham area. Services on the Leicester - Lincoln route will terminate at Nottingham. Services on the Matlock - Newark Castle service will be extended to and from Lincoln. Other train services are subject at alterations and changes due to capacity and platforming at Nottingham.
  • Engineering work in the Warrington area means trains between Norwich and Liverpool Lime Street will be diverted between Manchester Oxford Road and Liverpool Lime Street, not calling at Warrington Central, Widnes or Liverpool South Parkway. These train services will additionally call at Newton-le-Willows.

    Replacement buses will run between Newton-le-Willows and Widnes / Warrington Central.

    Customers travelling to / from Liverpool South Parkway should use alternative routes via Liverpool Lime Street.

  • Services will start from 08:00, with three trains per hour operating in each direction between Sheffield / Nottingham and London St Pancras International.
  • Buses will replace trains between Bedford / Corby and Kettering.

Friday 28 December

 

Services will start from 08:00, with three trains per hour operating in each direction between Sheffield / Nottingham and London St Pancras International. Buses will replace trains between Bedford / Corby and Kettering.

Engineering work in the Warrington area means trains between Norwich and Liverpool Lime Street will be diverted between Manchester Oxford Road and Liverpool Lime Street, not calling at Warrington Central, Widnes or Liverpool South Parkway. These train services will additionally call at Newton-le-Willows.

Replacement buses will run between Newton-le-Willows and Widnes / Warrington Central.

Customers travelling to / from Liverpool South Parkway should use alternative routes via Liverpool Lime Street.

Saturday 29 December

 

Engineering work in the Warrington area means trains between Norwich and Liverpool Lime Street will be diverted between Manchester Oxford Road and Liverpool Lime Street, not calling at Warrington Central, Widnes or Liverpool South Parkway. These train services will additionally call at Newton-le-Willows.

Replacement buses will run between Newton-le-Willows and Widnes / Warrington Central.

Customers travelling to / from Liverpool South Parkway should use alternative routes via Liverpool Lime Street.

Trains will run to an amended time table to and from London St Pancras International, with trains arriving at London later than usual and departing earlier than usual. Some services will be cancelled, with three trains per hour running to and from London St Pancras International.

Sunday 30 December

 

Engineering work in the Warrington area means trains between Norwich and Liverpool Lime Street will be diverted between Manchester Oxford Road and Liverpool Lime Street, not calling at Warrington Central, Widnes or Liverpool South Parkway. These train services will additionally call at Newton-le-Willows.

Replacement buses will run between Newton-le-Willows and Widnes / Warrington Central.

Customers travelling to / from Liverpool South Parkway should use alternative routes via Liverpool Lime Street.

Train services will run to an amended time table to and from London St Pancras International, with trains arriving at London later than usual and departing earlier than usual. Some services will be cancelled, with three trains per hour running to and from London St Pancras International.

Monday 31 December

 

Engineering work in the Warrington area means trains between Norwich and Liverpool Lime Street will be diverted between Manchester Oxford Road and Liverpool Lime Street, not calling at Warrington Central, Widnes or Liverpool South Parkway. These train services will additionally call at Newton-le-Willows.

Replacement buses will run between Newton-le-Willows and Widnes / Warrington Central.

Customers travelling to / from Liverpool South Parkway should use alternative routes via Liverpool Lime Street.

Buses will replace trains between Bedford and Corby. An amended train timetable will be in operation, with two trains per hour running between London St Pancras International and Bedford, and 2 trains per hour between Kettering and Nottingham / Derby / Sheffield.

Tuesday 1 January 2019

 

East Midlands Trains local services will start up later with a full service in operation from mid morning.

Engineering work in the Warrington area means trains between Norwich and Liverpool Lime Street will be diverted between Manchester Oxford Road and Liverpool Lime Street, not calling at Warrington Central, Widnes or Liverpool South Parkway. These train services will additionally call at Newton-le-Willows.

Replacement buses will run between Newton-le-Willows and Widnes / Warrington Central.

Customers travelling to / from Liverpool South Parkway should use alternative routes via Liverpool Lime Street.

Buses will replace trains between Bedford and Corby. An amended train timetable will be in operation, with two trains per hour running between London St Pancras International and Bedford, and 2 trains per hour between Kettering and Nottingham / Derby / Sheffield.
