Engineering work is taking place between Bristol Parkway and Severn Tunnel Junction, closing some lines.


CrossCountry services running to Cardiff Central will arrive at Cardiff Central a few minutes later than usual and depart Cardiff Central a few minutes earlier than usual.

The following trains will be also be affected from Monday until Friday:

  • The 05:20 Bristol Temple Meads to Cardiff Central service will not run. Replacement buses will run between Bristol Parkway and Newport for these services
  • The 07:00 Cardiff Central to Manchester Piccadilly will be diverted to run between Manchester Piccadilly and Bristol Temple Meads
  • 17:05 Manchester Piccadilly to Cardiff Central will be diverted to run between Manchester Piccadilly and Bristol Temple Meads

Great Western Railway

All trains to and from Cardiff Central will be subject to alteration. Some services will be part replaced by road transport. Some services which normally run to / from Bristol Parkway will be revised to start / terminate at Filton Abbey Wood.

Customers travelling between London Paddington and Bristol Parkway should travel via Bristol Temple Meads and connecting trains except during the evening peak from London Paddington and during the morning peak from Bristol Parkway when through services will be available.

London Paddington - South Wales services:

Most trains between London Paddington and South Wales will operate to an hourly timetable.

Some trains between London Paddington and South Wales will be diverted via an alternative route and not call at Bristol Parkway. Passengers for Bristol Parkway should travel on trains which are not diverted and call at the station. Additionally, the 05:19 London Paddington to Swansea service will divert after Filton Abbey Wood to terminate at Bristol Parkway.

Road transport is operating between Bristol Parkway and Newport, connecting with the diverted trains.

Cardiff Central - Bristol Temple Meads / Weston-super-Mare / Taunton / Portsmouth Harbour services:

Most trains between Cardiff Central and Bristol Temple Meads / Portsmouth Harbour / Taunton will start terminate at Bristol Parkway and not run to / from Cardiff Central. 

Trains between Bristol Parkway and Weston-super-Mare will start / terminate at Filton Abbey Wood and not run to and from Bristol Parkway.

Road transport will operate between:

  • Bristol Parkway and Newport
  • Severn Tunnel Junction and Patchway / Filton Abbey Wood
