Description

Engineering work is taking place at Oxford, closing all lines for 16 days. More information on this work is available here.

Chiltern Railways

Trains will not run between Oxford Parkway and Oxford. Customers can use the Oxford Park & Ride route 500 bus.

CrossCountry

Monday 16 to Friday 20 July

Buses replace trains between Oxford and Banbury, extending journey times by up to 30 minutes.

Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 July

Buses will replace trains between Didcot Parkway, Oxford and Banbury.

Great Western Railway

Monday 16 to Friday 20 July

Until 22:35 each night, a limited service of one train per hour will run between London Paddington and Oxford.

Replacement bus services will run between:

  • Didcot Parkway and Oxford
  • Didcot Parkway and Hanborough
  • Oxford and Banbury
  • Oxford and Kingham (limited service)

Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 July

London Paddington to Worcester / Great Malvern / Hereford: Trains will run between London Paddington and Didcot Parkway, and between Moreton-in-Marsh and Worcester / Great Malvern / Hereford. Buses will run between Didcot Parkway, Oxford and Moreton-in-Marsh. A minibus shuttle service will run between Charlbury railway stations and Charlbury village.

Didcot Parkway - Oxford - Banbury: These trains are replaced by buses.

London Paddington - Oxford: These trains will run between London Paddington and Didcot Parkway only, a fast bus service will run between Didcot Parkway and Oxford. Alternatively you can use Chiltern Railways services between London Marylebone and Oxford Parkway (then use the Park & Ride bus to/from Oxford).

Local trains between London Paddington and Reading / Didcot Parkway will operate to revised timings.

Project Information:

Network Rail are renewing track, installing new signals and laying new cables. During this summer block, they will be continuing with this operational work. The track to the north of the station will be removed and replaced as it is life expired.

The new track, crossings, signals (operated from the Thames Valley Signal Centre at Didcot) will allow for increased line speeds, better regulation of trains (passenger and freight) through the station and new power supplies for the signals will result in a more reliable signal system.
