Description

The RMT Union will undertake industrial action, affecting Northern today and on 29 September.

Northern expect to operate a reduced timetable with very few trains running before 09:00 and after 18:00. Around 30% of services are expected to run.

On some routes, Northern will not be able to run trains, while others have a limited service. Trains that do run are expected to be extremely busy. Northern will also have replacement bus services available on some routes where trains aren’t running.

Additional information:
Ongoing engineering work in and around Manchester will also see some disruption to services, particularly between Manchester and Liverpool, with Northern running an hourly service via Warrington Central. Services running via St Helens Junction will start and terminate at Newton-le-Willows with buses running to and from Manchester Oxford Road.
