Merseyrail 'Northern' line services between Hunts Cross and Southport; Liverpool Central and Kirkby / Ormskirk

Description

Platform extension work is taking place between Sandhills and Kirkby on Saturday, and between Hunts Cross / Liverpool Central and Walton / Kirkby / Bootle Oriel Road on Sunday.

Saturday:

Buses will replace trains between Sandhills and Kirkby.

Sunday:

Buses will replace trains between the following stations:

  • Hunts Cross and Bootle Oriel Road
  • Liverpool Central and Kirkby
  • Liverpool Central and Walton

Bicycles:

Non folding bicycles are not allowed on rail replacement bus services at any time. Folding bicycles are allowed if fully folded. For more information, please see here.

Project Information:

This project is all about getting the Merseyrail network ready for the arrival of new modern trains. They will be faster, safer, more comfortable than ever, and able to carry 50% more passengers.

You will benefit from a number of modern features including sliding step technology which will result in unassisted access for all and you will be able to get on and off the trains much more easily. This technology represents a pioneering approach for the UK. Merseyrail need to do some work to the platforms before the new trains arrive and in readiness for the sliding step.
