Description

Because of flooding between Carlisle and Barrow-in-Furness, and members of train crew being unavailable because of weather conditions in the area, services are being severely disrupted.

The following services are cancelled but may be reinstated if members of train crew become available:

  • 21:50 Whitehaven to Workington
  • 21:25 Barrow-in-Furness to Millom
  • 20:33 Carlisle to Whitehaven
  • 22:02 Millom to Barrow-in-Furness

Description

Because of extensive flood damage to a river bridge in the Feltham area, no direct train services are currently running between Feltham and Twickenham.

Customers travelling to the England v New Zealand rugby international on Saturday are advised as follows:

Customers travelling from London Waterloo

  • 8 trains per hour will run direct between London Waterloo and Twickenham
  • Please be warned that these trains are likely to be extremely busy and passengers should allow additional time to get to and from the game

Customers travelling from Reading and the West Country

Customers should, where possible, travel on First Great Western services via Reading to London Paddington

From London Paddington:

  • take London Underground Hammersmith & City / District line services to Richmond, which is approximately two miles from Twickenham Stadium. There are direct bus and train services from Richmond to Twickenham Stadium   

South West Trains tickets will be accepted on First Great Western and London Underground services on the above routes at no extra cost 

Customers travelling from stations west of Feltham on South West Trains services

All South West Trains services from Reading will terminate at Feltham. It is not possible to transfer customers by bus direct to Twickenham Stadium because of road closures in the Twickenham area. 

Replacement bus services will run from Feltham to Kempton Park for connecting trains to Twickenham. Two trains per hour will run between Kempton Park and Twickenham and for two hours before and after the game there will be four trains per hour between Kempton Park and Twickenham. 

Please note that these buses and trains are likely to be extremely busy. Customers should allow at least an extra hour to complete their journey.

Description

Because of extensive flood damage to a river bridge in the Feltham area, a picture of which is available here, trains are currently unable to run on lines between Hounslow / Whitton and Feltham.

Network Rail engineers are working hard to provide a temporary solution which will allow a limited train service to operate next week. Until this is completed, a revised timetable is in operation on the affected routes with buses replacing trains between Twickenham, Whitton and Feltham. Journey times may be extended by up to 45 minutes.

If you are travelling to the rugby at Twickenham on Saturday, please click here for further details of arrangements that have been put in place.

Customers travelling from London Waterloo to the horse racing at Ascot on Friday or Saturday are advised to travel to Ash Vale for a connecting service to Ascot. Please allow extra time to complete your journey.

Midweek train services are running as follows;

London Waterloo to Reading:

  • Trains on this route are only running between Feltham and Reading. Passengers travelling from London Waterloo / Clapham Junction should change at Twickenham for replacement buses to Feltham for onward connections to Reading. The reverse applies for journeys towards London Waterloo
  • Alternatively, passengers may use First Great Western trains between London Paddington and Reading or between Guildford and Reading at no extra charge. Passengers travelling to Wokingham, Winnersh, Winnersh Triangle and Earley may also find it more convenient to use First Great Western trains to Reading and change there for connecting trains to Wokingham
  • Passengers travelling to Sunningdale, Ascot or Martins Heron are advised to travel to Ash Vale and change there for trains to Ascot

London Waterloo to Weybridge (via Hounslow / Staines):

  • Trains on this route are only running between Staines and Weybridge. Passengers travelling from London Waterloo / Clapham Junction to Addlestone, Chertsey, Virginia Water, Egham or Staines are advised to use alternative services between London Waterloo and Weybridge via Wimbledon / Surbiton and change there for connections.

London Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside:

There are no direct trains running between London Waterloo and Windsor & Eton Riverside.

  • Trains on this route are only running between Feltham and Windsor & Eton Riverside. Passengers travelling from London Waterloo / Clapham Junction should change at Twickenham for replacement buses to Feltham for onward connections to Windsor. The reverse applies for journeys towards London Waterloo.
  • Alternatively, passengers travelling between London and Windsor may use First Great Western trains between London Paddington, Slough and Windsor & Eton Central at no extra charge

Circular services from London Waterloo via Hounslow / Twickenham

  • Trains will run as normal

Circular services from London Waterloo via Twickenham / Kingston / Wimbledon

  • Trains will run as normal

Replacement bus services

Replacement bus services are running every 5 to 10 minutes between Twickenham, Whitton and Feltham. 

  • First bus from Feltham is at 0500
  • First bus from Twickenham is at 0530
  • Last bus from Feltham is at 0025
  • Last bus from Twickenham is at 0055

Alternative Travel Options

Passengers may use First Great Western, London Buses and London Underground services on any reasonable route

Passengers may also travel between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street via Falkirk.

Description

Because of a shortage of train drivers, a reduced service is running on the First Capital Connect 'Thameslink' routes on weekdays until further notice.  It may be necessary to further amend this timetable, please check the Journey Planner before travelling.

As a result, journey times may be extended by up to 30 minutes.

Season Ticket holders who normally use 'Thameslink' services are able to travel on First Capital Connect's 'Great Northern' services, which are expected to run normally. Tickets marked 'FCC only' are NOT valid on East Coast services between Peterborough/Stevenage and London Kings Cross.

Other Travel Alternatives

Passengers may use their tickets on:

  • London Underground
  • London Buses  via any reasonable route between Central London and stations to Wimbledon/Sutton
  • South West Trains services between Wimbledon and London Waterloo
  • East Midlands Trains services between Bedford, Luton, Luton Airport Parkway and London St Pancras
  • Tramlink services between East Croydon, Mitcham Junction and Wimbledon  

Car Parking

Car Park permits that are valid for use in 'Thameslink' stations may be used in the following car parks on the 'Great Northern' route (providing the permit is clearly displayed on the windscreen):

  • Huntingdon
  • St Neots
  • Biggleswade
  • Welwyn North
  • Hatfield (limited space)
  • Welham Green
  • Brookmans Park
  • Potters Bar (limited space) 

Travelling to Luton Airport?

Passengers travelling to Luton Airport are recommended to allow extra travel time to check in for your flight.

Travelling to Gatwick Airport?

Passengers travelling to Gatwick Airport are recommended to allow extra travel time to check in for your flight

Alternative options are to use Southern or Gatwick Express services from London Victoria. However, if your ticket states 'FCC Only' or 'Not Gatwick Express', an additional ticket will have to be purchased to travel with Gatwick Express.

Description

Until 2012, there are no 'cross-London' services between St Pancras International and London Bridge/Herne Hill at weekends, bank holidays or between 22.30 and 04.30 every week night (See below for a list of dates on which a cross London service WILL operate). This work is a key part of the Thameslink programme

During this time, customers should use London Underground (or London Buses at weekends only) to cross Central London. Outside London Underground operating hours, replacement buses will be provided between London Blackfriars / London Bridge and London St Pancras

Until Autumn 2011, London Blackfriars Underground station will be closed. Customers should travel to Temple / Mansion House / City Thameslink stations which are close to Blackfriars. London Blackfriars mainline station remains open during this time

At weekends, replacement buses will also run between Tulse Hill / Herne Hill and London Blackfriars via Loughborough Junction and Elephant & Castle

A cross-London train service WILL run on the following weekend days:

  • Sunday 29 November 2009
  • Saturday 19 December 2009
  • Sunday 20 December 2009
  • Sunday 03 January 2010

Ticket Acceptance

National Rail tickets will be accepted on London Underground services via any reasonable route to complete your cross-London journey

  • Routes 45, 63, N63: Kings Cross - Elephant & Castle
  • Route 214: Kings Cross - Kentish Town
