Description

A locomotive became derailed near Bletchley in the early hours of Friday morning. Because of this, there will be an amended service between Milton Keynes Central and London Euston today. There is currently no estimate for the completion of repairs and therefore it is not yet known whether services will continue to be affected on Sunday.

Virgin Trains

  • From London, the 20 minutes past each hour train to Manchester Piccadilly will not run. The 43 minutes past each hour train to Birmingham New Street will start from Milton Keynes Central. Other trains will be calling additionally at Milton Keynes for connections.
  • Towards London, the 15 minutes past each hour train from Manchester Piccadilly will not run. The 06 minutes past each hour train from Wolverhampton will terminate at Milton Keynes Central. Other trains will be calling additionally at Milton Keynes for connections.

London Midland

  • The 13 minutes past each hour train from Birmingham New Street to London Euston will terminate at Northampton (except for the 17:13, 18:13 & 19:13 trains, which are planned to run through to London).
  • The 13 minutes past each hour train from London Euston to Birmingham New Street will start from Northampton.
  • Alternative train services will be available for customers travelling between London Euston and Northampton in both directions.

Southern

Trains will start / terminate at Watford Junction, so will not run between Milton Keynes Central and Watford Junction.

Passengers should use London Midland services between Milton Keynes Central and Watford Junction.

Ticket Arrangements

Customers should travel using their booked Virgin Trains or London Midland service. Customers with reservations on cancelled services should travel on the same route as close to their booked time as possible.

Virgin Trains passengers who decided not to travel on friday may apply for a full refund from the point of sale, or may use their ticket up to Tuesday 7th February (travelling at the same time as the original reservation where possible - normal peak time ticket restrictions will apply).

  • There are no 'cross-London' services between St Pancras International and London Bridge/Herne Hill at weekends, bank holidays (including Friday 6 April and Monday 9 April) or between 22:30 and 04:30 every week night (See below for a list of dates on which a cross London service WILL operate). This work is a key part of the Thameslink programme
  • During this time, customers should use London Underground (or London Buses at weekends only) to cross Central London. Outside London Underground operating hours, replacement buses will be provided between London Blackfriars / London Bridge and London St Pancras.
  • All work is expected to be completed and full service resume from Saturday 19 May 2012.
  • London Blackfriars Underground station will be closed until Sunday 26 February 2012. Customers should travel to Temple / Mansion House / City Thameslink stations which are close to Blackfriars. London Blackfriars mainline station remains open during this time.

A cross-London train service WILL run on the following weekend / Bank Holiday days:

  • Sunday 5 February
  • Sunday 12 February
  • Sunday 25 March

National Rail tickets will be accepted on London Underground services via any reasonable route to complete your cross-London journey

Tickets will also be accepted, at the weekend only on the following London Bus services:
