Northampton redevelopment

Northampton's new £20 million station is now open to the public.

Customers are advised to allow more time when first using the new station to familiarise themselves with the new layout and ticket gate operation.

The Starbucks, Coffee Republic, WHSmith and Enterprise car rental units are now all open.

Alternative car parking

Our 700 space car park gets full by around 7.30am on weekdays, and space is limited after about 11.30am on Saturdays (Sundays are fine). 

If you’re unable to find a space you can use the alternative council-operated car parks – just a 2 minute drive away – Chalk Lane and Doddridge Street (please visit to view a map). Pay and Display tickets purchased at the station and season tickets for the station can be used on Chalk Lane and Doddridge Street Council car parks during the construction work.

Pre-booked online parking and Pay by Phone parking cannot be used on those car parks. If you have used these options and then have to park on Chalk Lane or Doddridge Street you must purchase a pay and display ticket. The station is only a few minutes' walk away.

We operate some stations that are either unstaffed or only staffed at certain times. The booking hall and all platforms have step free access via lifts.

From Black Lion Hill, proceed to the car park side of the building via the ramp at the side of the building and enter on the ground floor. From the car park there is step free access to the ground floor. A lift is available from the ground floor up to booking office. Level access to footbridge from booking hall, wide ticket gates are available and staff will assist where necessary. From the footbridge there are lifts down to all platforms.
