    Call TrainTracker™ for live train running information for today or timetable and fares information for the next three months (calls cost 10p per minute from a BT landline, calls from other operators and mobiles may be higher).

    TrainTracker™ uses a high quality speech recognition service to let you request real time journey information over the phone. By answering no more than 4 simple questions it can give you the same real time train running information as our website, including whether your train is delayed or cancelled and, if we have it, the reason for the delay or cancellation.

    But TrainTracker™ does more than just live train running information. If you ask it to TrainTracker™ can also give you train times for your journey up to 3 months in advance and even advise you of the cheapest available fare, including Oyster Pay As You Go where this is available.

    How does it adapt to me?

    TrainTracker™ remembers your previous requests.

    When you call TrainTracker™ it searches its records to see if you have called before and will try to offer you details of a specific journey. This is ideal if you call the service regularly about the same journey, for example you commute to work. TrainTracker™ will recognise your number and ask if you are calling about your regular journey. This saves you having to repeat you home and work stations every time, saving you time and potentially reducing the cost of your call. This adaptation is based on how frequency you call TrainTracker™, the time of day and other aspects of your call profile.

    This adaptation includes:
    • repeats of the most recently requested information
    • information which was relating to travel today
    • return trains for journeys you've asked about where the outbound travel was today or yesterday
    • regularly requested routes

    This may be based on frequency of calling, time of day and other aspects of your call profile. Use of the service indicates acceptance of the storage of the information required for the adaptation features to work.

    TrainTracker™ should work in most conditions but like all speech recognition services loud background noise or poor reception can impact on its ability to correctly understand what you are saying. To help with this TrainTracker™ also allows you to use your touchtone keypad to answer questions.

    Another common problem is stations in different parts of the country with the same, or very similar, names. To help TrainTracker™ recognise the correct station you can specify the county when you make your request. For example, when asking for Newport you can say "Newport, Gwent" or "Newport, Essex" in order to get the right station.

    Useful hints for TrainTracker

    For example, to ask for Oxford station you can select 693673 on your keypad to spell out 'oxford'. Note: Some Blackberry and other mobile phone users whose handsets do not use the standard keypad layout may have difficulty using the TrainTracker™ touchtone service.

    The service has live departure times for today and tomorrow and timetable times for the next 3 months.
