Overview

Reduced rail travel with the Young Scot National Entitlement card

Details

The Scottish Youth Railcard (SYR) discount is available free to 16-18 year olds and full time volunteers up to the age of 25.

16 - 18 year olds will no longer be issued with a SYR, instead they will use their Young Scot National Entitlement Card (NEC) which bears their photograph, Pass hologram, date of birth (DOB) and the Young Scot logo.  It is important to check their DOB on the Young Scot NEC to ensure the card holder is under the age of 19.

Full time volunteers up to age of 25 may still have the old version SYR as they are aged over 19.

Holders of a Young Scot NEC are entitled to:

  • 34% off most rail fares

  • 50% off all season tickets

  • 34% off most advance purchases

  • Minimum fares apply before 10:00 Monday - Friday (except in July & August)
