​​​​​​​Off-Peak Carnet tickets offer a 10% discount on Standard Class travel, compared to the price of Off-Peak Day Return fares between the following stations and London:

  • Cambridge*

  • Royston*

  • Letchworth Garden City*

  • Huntingdon*

  • St Neots*

  • Hitchin*

  • Stevenage*

  • Welwyn Garden City*

  • Hatfield*

  • Potters Bar*

  • Hertford North*

  • Bedford**

  • Leagrave**

  • Luton**

  • Luton Airport Parkway**

  • Harpenden**

  • St Albans City**

You can buy a Off-Peak Carnet book of either five or 10 single journey tickets.

Your Off-Peak Carnet tickets will need to be used within three months.

Off-Peak Carnet tickets are one-way, so you will need a separate book of Off-Peak Carnet tickets for your return journey.

You cannot combine your 10% discount with Railcard or GroupSave discounts.

The individual ticket journey price is based on half the relevant Off-Peak Day Return' fare discounted by 10%.

To use a ticket, you must fill in the travel date in black permanent ink before boarding the train.

You can also buy these tickets online from either the Great Northern  or Thameslink websites.

Booking Conditions

  • Tickets are valid for 3 months from date of issue.

  • Passengers MUST validate the ticket using permanent black ink before boarding the train.

  • Attempted fraudulent use will result in withdrawal of this ticket, payment of full fare for the journey being made and a possible criminal charge.

  • Only 10 complete unused Off-Peak Carnet tickets will be considered for a refund.

  • Lost or stolen individual tickets will not be replaced.

  • Peak tickets are valid at any time

  • Break of journey is permitted

  • Off-Peak Carnet tickets are valid at anytime on weekends and Public Holidays.

  • On weekdays Off-Peak Carnet tickets cannot be used on trains arriving into London before 10:00. From London, these tickets cannot be used before 09:30, plus between 16:30 and 19:01 for journeys to Cambridge, Royston, Letchworth Garden City, Huntingdon, St Neots, Hitchin, Stevenage, Bedford, Leagrave, Luton, Luton Airport Parkway, Harpenden and St Albans City

To use a ticket, you must fill in the travel date in black permanent ink before boarding the train. 

You must endorse the date with 2-digit numerical values only, eg. 07 09 for travel on 7th September.
