Northern between Manchester Airport and Windermere / Barrow-in-Furness / Blackpool North and between Stalybridge and Wigan Wallgate via Bolton

TransPennine Express between Manchester Airport and Edinburgh / Glasgow Central


Engineering work is taking place between Ince and Bolton and between Bolton and Blackrod, closing all lines.

The following amendments will be in operation:


Trains between:

Manchester Airport – Barrow-in-Furness / Windermere: Trains will start / terminate at Preston.

Manchester Airport – Blackpool North: Trains will be diverted to run via Wigan North Western, and will not call at stations via Bolton and Chorley.

Stalybridge – Wigan Wallgate via Bolton: Trains will run between Manchester Victoria and Bolton.

Buses will replace trains between:

  • Wigan Wallgate and Bolton

  • Bolton and Preston

TransPennine Express:

Services between Manchester Airport and Preston will be diverted via Eccles and will not call at Bolton.

Some services may start later/terminate earlier in the journey.
