Description

Major improvement work is taking place at Carstairs. This work will be carried out in 3 phases:

• Phase 3 - Saturday 22 April - Sunday 4 June

PLEASE NOTE - Saturday 27 to Monday 29 May - Edinburgh Rail Replacement pick up is from St Andrews Square and the drop off on St Davids Street (Road directly opposite Scotts Monument).

PHASE 3 (Saturday 22 April - Sunday 4 June)

Avanti West Coast:

Saturday and Sunday (including bank holidays):

Most trains to / from London Euston / Birmingham New Street will start / terminate at Carlisle.

A limited service will operate between Carlisle and Glasgow Central via Dumfries. Journey time will be extended by up to 90 minutes.

Please note you may be required to change trains at Carlisle to complete your journey.

Replacement buses will also operate between Carlisle and Glasgow Central to supplement the train service.

Monday to Friday:

Trains are scheduled to run normally.

It is strongly recommended you plan ahead, make a reservation, leave extra time for your journey and check before you travel.

CrossCountry:

Buses will replace trains between Edinburgh and Motherwell.

LNER: 

On Saturday the 06:48 from Glasgow Central to London Kings Cross will start from Edinburgh at 08:00.On Sunday the 16:30 from London Kings Cross to Glasgow Central will now terminate at Edinburgh.Monday to Friday the 15:30 London Kings Cross to Glasgow Central service will terminate at Edinburgh and the 06:48 from Glasgow Central to London Kings Cross will start from Edinburgh at 08:00.A rail replacement will be in place between Edinburgh and Motherwell.

ScotRail:

Most ScotRail services that operate via Carstairs are cancelled with a small number rerouted via Shotts. See here for more details.

TransPennine Express:

Saturday and Sunday (including bank holidays):

Trains between Manchester Airport and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh will be terminating at Carlisle for onward rail connection via Avanti West Coast / ScotRail services or via rail replacement bus service, running between between Carlisle and Edinburgh and also between Lockerbie and Glasgow Central.

Monday to Friday:

Trains are scheduled to run normally.
