It’s just a bit of wind…

In fact, high winds can bring trees down, blocking the track and causing damage to the overhead lines

High Winds

Gale force winds can blow debris onto the railway, including trees and other vegetation. These block the track causing train delays whilst it is cleared away.

Trees can also be blown onto the overhead lines, severing the power connection to trains. More seriously, trees can knock masts down completely.

High winds can make it unsafe for repairs to be carried out, meaning services can be delayed until the repairs can be complete.
