Description

The Met Office has forecasted hot weather across England, Wales and Scotland over the next few days.

Temperatures are expected to exceed 30°C in places across parts of central, southern and eastern England on Monday and Tuesday. There may also be periods of heavy rain and wind which may cause localised flooding in parts of Scotland and possibly northern England.

There are currently no weather related disruptions reported. Any disruptions related to heat or extreme weather will be published once we have more information.

Extreme weather impact:

The forecasted weather may cause trains to be disrupted. Heat can cause overhead lines to expand and sag, line-side fires and also cause rails to buckle.

Advice for customers:

Please check before you travel and allow more time for your journey on affected days. Speed restrictions may be in place which can cause delays and cancellations.

Please also carry water with you - you can find water refill stations at all Network Rail managed stations and some other larger stations.

If you feel unwell at the station, please don't board a train, please seek assistance from station staff or use the help point.

Further information can be found on our Hot Weather page.

Check before you travel:

You can check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

Compensation:

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
