Description

The Met Office have issued yellow and amber severe weather warnings for thunderstorms affecting parts of England today and tomorrow.

There is also a yellow weather warning in place for heavy rain in Scotland from Saturday evening through until midday on Sunday.

The forecast severe weather may cause trains to be disrupted:

  • Heavy rainfall can cause flooding that may result in tracks being underwater and embankments being damaged, which can lead to potential landslips

  • Flooding can affect points and signalling equipment that allow trains to move from one line to another

Customer advice:

Please check before you travel, and allow extra time for your journey on the affected days. Speed restrictions may be in place in affected areas which can cause delays and cancellations.

There are currently no active weather related disruptions. Any disruptions that are related to the severe weather will be published once we have more information.

Check before you travel:

You can check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

Compensation:

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
