Marking the fifteenth staging of the competition in international netball, contested every four years. The very first World Netball Championships were held in Eastbourne in 1963. It was last hosted in the U.K. in 1995 at Birmingham.

The M&S Bank Arena has a seating capacity of 11,000, it is the centrepiece of the ACC Liverpool sporting and events precinct, which allows the event's other amenities, such as warm-up and administration facilities to take part in one location.
